That's what I used to do, too....only use I ever had for them. When you're a company driver, you don't have much say in what extra crap the truck owner wants to put on the truck.

I saw a Lone Star rig pull into the Pilot on I 40 exit 85 in Jackson, TN last night. 386 Pete, loaded, tarped, no step deck.
Did that happen to be one of you guys?AZS Thanks this. -

I was in Houston last night.
Speaking of which, I unloaded this morning in what I think was record time for a port. In and out in an hour. They had 7 trucks in front of me when I pulled in and the lift drivers were double teaming the unload.. so it was done quick. Head up to a shell truckstop just north of the Pilot on McCarthy for some mexican breakfast with another driver i've been convoying with this week, and shortly after have another load of oversize Steel from Beaumont to Fort Saskatchewan AB. I'm starting to think I should just emigrate personally. I've only got 15 hours left on my clock tho so can't make the Friday delivery so its set for Monday. Was gonna sit at this petro on Beaumont until Wed, then roll since the houston curfew screwed me up.. but I got to thinking and the way im permitted I can get through the house tomorrow in Fort Worth for a 34.. then head out thursday for the north and still make it on time... so... i'll be blowing this popcicle stand tomorrow morning headed north. -
I was going to get out of the truck and introduce myself, but you're the only one I really chat with on this thread. Wasn't sure if you were in this area or not.
I'd hate to walk up to the truck and be wrong......lol

A number of the guys have been here 15+ years. And while they do a great job operating these trucks and trailers, their computer skills aren't as up to par. Most of them have old flip phones still. I had to send in a ticket yesterday and they wanted me to fax it in. I told Harriet I could email it to her as a PDF file and she was a bit surprised I'd actually do that. I don't think anyone's ever offered her to do that before. I wish we did have more drivers on here.
d o g Thanks this. -
my dispatcher only has 7-8 drivers (out of 35+ total) who have email/print to the truck capability, not implying that's just because they're old but it is definitely a sign of 'old school' so to speak. They do have a lot of older drivers here though, they hire younger ones but they don't stick around that long I've noticed. I've known several of them.
