My Experience with Lone Star Transportation

A LOT of O/O's don't get this...

 

Though I've never owned a truck, I believe the above posts are exactly right.

It doesn't matter how great of a driver you are, if you have no business sense, you'll most likely go out of business. An owner/operator is a one man business; and if you aren't knowledgeable in all aspects of the business (trucking, brokering, money management, etc), chances are, you'll end up in trouble fast.

I think people often mistake being an O/O as an easy way to make great money, control where they drive/hometime; when in reality, it isn't any different than saying - I want to start a FOREX firm and make millions. Being an owner/operator isn't any different than starting any other business - high risk.

Some people don't have the brains to run a business - doesn't matter how awesome of a driver they are.
