My friend has gotten $3/mile from them, but since you don't believe that he has been getting $2/mile, you will certainly not believe $3. Getting $3 isn't the norm, but it has happened. Brokers send rate confirmations not trip sheets. And no, I won't ask him for a rate confirmation to prove a point. He has no reason to lie to me. I know the person with whom he does most of his business and he has told me the same thing as my friend. Out of curiosity, I spoke with one of their offices a couple of days ago and there were several loads within 150 miles from my truck that was around or just over $2/mile. There are more rates below $2/mile than above, especially for a van. I will agree that there are more owners hauling cheaper loads than the higher paying ones, but that is their choice. It does help to keep rates low. Just because CH Robinson or any other broker offers a cheap rate doesn't mean that you have to haul them.

I believe you. It has to do with what office from my understanding. I read on here the ABQ office has good rates.

It can make a difference which office with which you deal. Some do better at getting good rates than others. You could say the same thing about other brokers. I don't recall anything about their ABQ office, but if you can develop a good relationship with one or more individuals they can help you to get better rates and to keep moving. They will want to see what you can do and how you run before giving you the best paying loads. Most of us would do the same thing.

    Monday:

I posted about the wasted day trying to unload the AC unit

    Tuesday:

i wake up to see a Text that my step, step grandfather had died (my step moms, step dad) great start to the day :biggrin_25526:

i already posted about tuesday too

    Wensday:

i head to the receiver and i did find them dispite fog so thick i couldnt see the end of the hood, and the fact that there is no street sign at the end of there road (since its not a real road) and of course no sign for the customer either.

So i pull up to the drive threw receiveing door go in and am told it'll be about 20 min they are in a meeting all 100+ employees (looked like a george lopez concert (if ya get what i mean)...

so i go out and take off my 8 chains, binders, lube them and put them away as the other driver i lost the day before pulls in.

    My Load:

There was another driver from some other company at the receiver, he said we were the first drivers he's seen chain this stuff down right in a long time, (hes 67 been driving 45+ years, now runs local outta this customer) he said most drivers show up with 2-4 straps just thrown over the steel :biggrin_25524:

So i ask him what happend....he says "you aint gonna beleive this"

He had scaled, had 35,000 on the trailer and went back to have it moved, rescaled and moved it again and again......he forgot about the 40,000 on the spread :biggrin_2559: i had almost reminded him at the shipper after i asked him what the shippers scale had said, instead of the weights he told me how much he was over....so i assumed he knew and i didnt wanna be "that driver" thats sitting there telling you how to do your own #### job so i didnt say anything.

Well he spent like 6-8 hours loading, chaining, scaleing, unchaining, moveing the load, re chaining and repeteing this process. until he remembered the 40K limit....at that point he was 38,000 on the drives and only had a few hours left, and the receiver refused to move it again (they knew they did it right the first time they do this all day lol) so he says f it and runs with it :biggrin_25526:

so then another LST truck pulls in.

I get unloaded dispatch says to head towards pharr tx to the terminal, said next load would come from there or laredo and he'd let me know within an hour, so i head out.

about halfway there he calls, go to laredo, i got you a 3 stop load in aurora, IL. And since im the worlds biggest Waynes World Fan i know #### well the Aurora is a suburb of Chicago! :biggrin_2559: GReat, he says get there asap and try to get MT as early as possible with hours left to reload by the end of the day friday...i knew it would be tight but ive done a few hundred LTL loads with 2-25 stops on each this cant be that bad.

Halfway there my QC goes nuts, then he calls, i switched your load. going to sanford, NC now.....sweeet!:biggrin_25525:

im thinking cool i can take this to NC, deliver friday afternoon, reload steel or whatever in SC, go back to TX, deadhead to laredo and get another sanford load going home in time for home time :biggrin_25525:

so i get there swap MT step for loaded step, and run to the last min of my hours, ended up in Katy, TX and actully got a front row spot at the J at 8pm score!

    so i fueled, parked did a 10

    Thursday:

i knew exactly how far i could go in 11 hours, hammered down and got to the J in Hope Hull, AL fueled/parked and did a 10.

    Friday:

Left at 1am headed to NC, 9.5 hours straight only stopping twice for less then 3 min for load checks (cat puts 30 YES 30 straps on these loads :biggrin_2559: 10 peices....31,000lbs.....30 straps:biggrin_2556:....

get to the receiver, drop the step, grab a flat, air leak! #### :biggrin_2557: after 20 min i figured out it was just the stupid dump valve...... and headed to the Checkard Flag (resteraunt with truck parking (they call it a truck stop)

They had a load for me, but it picked up friday 160 miles away...i only had 1.5 hours left to drive, they couldnt find me anything, they said freight in that area slowed down the day before and yesterday, and for some reason no one ships FB freight on the weekend :biggrin_25510:.

So he says after your 10, you can just head home till monday, then we'll have you run the East Coast :biggrin_2557: till your hometime (gotta be home sometime on wen). so no big deal been sitting there since 1pm but i waited so that when i got to charlotte i would only have to wait 1 hour for a ride home from my truck (my dad had to bring my Cuz who's in town to the Train station for a ride into the city to audition for "americas got talent" shes been doing these shows since like the '80s (i've been told she can sign (ive never heard her though).

So anyway no i'll get to see her while im home, going to help my dad do some work on his shinny newish 379 he just bought.

so that was my week lol, i forgot to bring my notebook home so i dont know what this weeks miles were i'll post them later might go grab the book i donno.
