Pride is a decent company, they do keep the newest fleet out there, but be warned, do not trust Steve Schelin. He is a spineless salesman of the worst kind.
Any promises he makes to you i suggest you get it in writing, and for heavens sake, if you have an issue with anybody feel free to go talk to Jeff England, he is very nice and always willing to talk to you as long as your polite and constructive.
Your best bet is to have a talk with Lindsey in HR. she is the greatest !!

Thanks. He was my recruiter when I worked there for a short time in 2007. That was back in the days of paper logs and I got tired of re-writing my log book every night so I left. I really liked the owners but at times I don't think that they
had any idea what their dispatchers were forcing the drivers to do. I hope things have gotten better now that they are on elogs.Snowshoes Thanks this. -
I talked to a recruiter yesterday because I want to come run the 11 western but she said with 6months experience in April the starting pay will be .34 plus up to 5 cents in bonuses. Anyone run 12western? What is avg miles and pay? Right now I run elog and run Princeton in to buffalo wv in a governed 65mph truck and get 3620 miles week and I'm home every Friday and Saturday. That pay scale has more in common with the last century than the current one. It's at least .10 cpm less than in should be. I made more than .34 as far back as 1998. Don't reward them by working for nothing like that.

You're comparing your four years experience (back in 1998) to an individual who currently has six months experience here in 2015?
What was the average diesel fuel price back in 1998?
Back in 1998, you were using paper logs. How many miles did you drive for free in order to match your paper logs to your paycheck? Furthermore, how many hours did you spend (of your own time) to create your paper logs to match your location?
Back in 1998, did you have a PrePass system that would allow you to bypass the DOT scales? Back in 1998, did you have any sort of electronic device that allowed you to bypass tolls?
Back in 1998, did you have to conform to California CARB rules that require every truck to be CARB qualified and idle certified?
Throughout your career as a truck driver, how many times have you had to load / unload your trailer, or assist to load / unload your trailer?
Throughout your career as a truck driver, how many hours have you sat and waited at a dock for free? How many hours have you sat and waited on a layover for free?
Have you EVER worked for Pride Transport to realize that the cents per mile is a base rate for all miles driven and does not include the numerous other pays they provide?
Have you EVER worked for Pride Transport to realize that they're true to their word that they DO provide bonuses for fuel performance and mileage incentive that is very capable to obtain?
It annoys me when people like YOU reflect a negative image upon a great company, like Pride Transport, basing your reflection upon a cents per mile rate, without ever having experience working with Pride Transport AND basing your opinion on your experiences of YOUR former employers.
In an earlier post on this thread, I indicated that I had left Pride Transport on the basis of my "low" cents per mile rate received by Pride Transport. I was "sold" by another company that offered me a greater cents per mile than Pride Transport would EVER pay. However, and in reality - the cents per mile offered by the other company was NOTHING compared to the income I was receiving from Pride Transport through the additional pay, the ability to bypass DOT scales (Pride Transport has a high CSA score), the ability to bypass toll booths, the ability to be paid ACTUAL miles that I run, and the ability to reload and get back up and running after I've unloaded.
Your comment of "Don't REWARD them by working for nothing like that." is deceiving and doesn't take into consideration a lot of many factors.Snowshoes Thanks this. -
What does CARB compliance and the average price of fuel have to do with what a company pays? If you're implying that we shouldn't be paid a wage that accounts for an increase of cost of living expenses because the company's have more overhead, than you sir are the problem with this industry, not me or anyone else that thinks our time is worth more than what certain carriers deam a far wage.
I get paid an extra half hour per day to fill out my antiquated paper log, so no loss there.
I've never unloaded a trailer, believe it or not, company's paid for lumpers 20 years ago.
As far as waiting on loading/unloading, I've spent thousands of hours over the last 17 plus years sitting at a dock unpaid. Are you saying that Pride pays you from the minute you roll into a customer to sit? I find that hard to believe.
And what are you talking about driving extra miles to make a paper log match? That makes absolutely no sense.
Now, I do agree that some first hand knowledge is a plus when posting about a company. But rambling about things you have no first hand knowledge of, like trucking 20 years ago or more, is just as bad. -
