I used them religiously until recently.
I stayed at a super 8 one night and I always ask what the cdl rate is ($56) then I ask what the clc rate is and it was $42. You can always count on adding at least $9 to the CLC price and that's what will come through on your credit card.
Well the charge came through.......... $67!!!
I call them to tell them they came in higher than the cdl rate and they basically tell me sorry about my luck.
I told them sorry about thiers and I disputed the charge on my card and called the hotel and paid the cdl rate. They soon after canceled the card but I still keep it for the hotels that let me present the card but pay out of pocket. They are a worthless company and I am glad they are no longer making money off of me

As of December 1st 2016 if you fail to use CLC to book a room in 90 days you are charged a $50 inactivity fee for every 90 day period that you do not stay in a hotel or motel using CLC Lodging. I was a member for about 12 years, but canceled when this new inactivity fee began. CLC sent me an email informing me they were going to charge the credit card I had on file with them for $50 inactivity fee, but I didn't read it and deleted the email thinking it was only a routine advertisment, but then later noticed the debit on my bank statement. So I immediately canceled and now I do all I can to warn people away from CLC. If you look up their name at ripoffreport.com you will find a lot of complaints about the surprise $50 ambush. I sure enjoyed CLC before their new greedy makeover, not only for the savings, but also I like the ease of their search filters to narrow my search to only motels with truck parking, for example, or I might also limit the search to motels with free breakfast, or an airport shuttle, etc. It was so easy to find what I was looking for, and the savings was always better than I could find on my own or using Priceline or whatever. But it's over now for us small users. The President answered my complaint with a "form email" complaining of their cost to keep small users in the system, but I don't think it costs them anything to store my small bit of data in a computer, sheesh what kind of B.S. is that? CLC FAILS.

While it's a good thing to inform everyone of their change of policy....
How can it be a "surprise $50 ambush" when they sent you an email about he charge? Maybe you should have not thrown out their announcement without reading it. Just a thought.crb Thanks this. -
Something about the ex wife doing paper.work scares.me haha
Brettj3876 and crb Thank this. -
Darned shame.
Worked with CLC when I was in hospitality. CLC got our minimum rate ($34.99 I think). Had three regular drivers every week like clockwork. -
I recently found out that not only does CLC charge you the nightly fee, they also keep roughly 40% of the rate that the hotel says they charge. I found that out because the front desk clerk gave me the wrong receipt once, and I got to see what CLC pays the hotel.

as a hotel dealing with clc is getting tougher, they want us to make reservations with out even giving us your names, doing a crew fax you are better off calling the hotel and telling us your using a clc card.
