I understand your pain...My trainer at Werner was only worried about making money for him...I was pressured after 3 months of being on my own to become a trainer. I waited until I had 6 months of experience before I decided to train. The training program did not prepare me to train new drivers, but I knew the difference between right and wrong. I am truly sorry for your experience. As a trainer, I was worried about my safety as well as my students. Although Werner is a training mill for students with Federal kickbacks, I have to say that there are good trainers out there...They have to know their limits, and not allow the dispatchers and loadplanners to pressure them into unsafe practices. We all know what our limits our and they should be respected. I have been with Werner for over 3 yrs. The pay is low compared to other companies, but, I have a repoire with my dispatcher that makes me very comfortable. Werner is very much about the dollar, but don't give up hope....we are all not bad and we all have to find our niche somewhere. I have heard the horror stories from the other training companies out there...and there are many....I trained with USA truck before going to WErner and had a pervert for a trainer...He actually told me that if I gave him a BJ...I could get off the truck in record time.....I never gave up...I wanted to be a truck driver...and did not give up...So my advice to you is: If your heart is truly in it...and a truck driver you must become...don't give up...A truck driver's live is not easy, and for me, being a woman makes its even tougher...but I never gave up the dream...and I would do it all again...I wish you luck in your endeavor...but NO matter what...always be safe and realize you are responsible for the motoring public around you...they are without a clue as to the hazards that are around them when they are around the big rig...from personal experience...I always try to be safe...but sometimes their lack of knowledge of our limitations make it difficult....be safe...find your niche and know that it is not always an easy profession to be in...Best of Luck to you...

A time-frame in which you must accomplish the mission, being out for a week or so at a shot (if you're lucky), limited space to stow your gear, and a two-inch-thick mattress compare pretty well to the Navy. But...

Ultimately, this ain't the military, and we shouldn't have to take the kind of crap the OP did. I'm almost glad now that Werner reneged on the pre-hire they sent me.

My trainer would routinely throw pizza boxes and pop bottles out the window going down the road. He wasn't sneeky about it, he'd just put the window down and toss it right out... "I'm done with it after all, save me a trip walking to the garbage can with it..as he laughed". Can't believe we never got pulled over and issued mountains of tickets for that.

It is partially the OP's fault for not doing research and jumping into a career as so many do here. There are mountains and mountains of posts on this website alone about how Werner has ruined people. Most people don't come on here to bash Werner for fun or because they have one bad day. Usually its a bad month, few months, or year until they finally get miserable enough to quit.

Research only goes so far when you are first entering the industry. There are only a handful of companies that are willing to take a new driver and just so happens they are the big CDL mills. The problem lies in picking the lesser of the evils. I can tell you right now its a crapshoot. You need to suffer for a year until you find something better.
