You know any job you have is hard and you have to eat crow to get where you wanna be but when you need to go to the hospital and the trainer leaves you when told not to hmmm. that is pretty low. and when a trainer goes to sleep and leaves you driving alone when you are in training how is that training? sometimes there will more you have to learn on your own but that is what they are there for to train. And when you ask questions and the trainer gives you a smart butt comment? yeah just because you are a truck driver doesn't mean you have to be an A-hole. just sayin plus the first trainer got fired for something that happened with a previous student the trainer was at fault and the second quit the 3rd one put someone's life at risk if it was you how would you feel would you want someone to leave you with no medical help? i dont think so!

WOW! A girl goes to sleep & she finds this in the morning. lol. Thats funny right there, I don't care who ya are.
I don't know everyones situation, just ours. I know my husband works is butt off. He has a trainee on his truck right now & although he is teaching him, the trainee helps him out a lot also. Makes unloading a lot faster & the ride go smoother, usually. He appreciates the help from the trainee's as much as the trainee's appreciate the help from him. You don't have to be a jerk just bc you can. When you do it just makes YOU look bad. It also makes the entire company look bad. No one, no matter how large the company is you're working for, is an exception to the rule of the depression right now. If your company goes bankrupt, you too will be out of a job. If your one of the crappy employees that contributed to its downfall, how's that gonna make you feel? I'm just a realist, and I look at the big picture. If the company thinks the only way to get ahead is by allowing its workers to use the trainee's & suck them dry for as long as they can before they quit is ok, then thats fine. Seems to me tho that having such a high turn-over wouldn't be so beneficial. Makes me wonder who's in upper management lining their pockets as fast as they can before the company falls apart. Apparently its every man for themself.
As far as it somehow being HIS fault, that HE has the thin skin....if thats your opinion, then thats fine. We'll just see what song your singing when you or someone you care about goes thru something similar. Some people don't give a crap about others as long as they don't know them or they don't pertain to their lives. Then they wanna pitch a fit when it happens to them like its not fair. Its really pretty sad.Kash6972 Thanks this. -
Ccorly, I see where your coming from but I don't think their going out of business any time soon. For the pure fact that Werner gets a government kick back the so called Obama Act, for their cattle farm. Every student has to feel out all the forms asking if you've been on some type of well fare or government assistance in the last 2 year's. I mean what companies ask for that long of unemployment unless their getting gov aid. I guess for every rhyme there's a reason. JMO
In other news, I just got done talking to a Roehl recruiter and she said everything looks good on my part. Their goin to start the process of my background. From what I hear they have a great training dept, where the trainers have more than 3 ms xp. So what are y'alls opinions on that? -
roehl is whole lot better than werner is..it's not even close, you'll be better of with them than werner...

I trained with Werner, and had two trainers both of them were OK. One of them saved my butt a couple of times when I tried to make a right turn before the trailer had finished clearing a stop sign --- so I gave him high marks since he taught me to look at mirrors. THat guy never stopped for food and would give me the evil eye when I would sneak over and get a subway shop sandwich at a fuel stop. I lost 15 lbs in a couple of weeks with that guy, but all's cool I needed to lose weight. I liked him cause he gave me lots of driving time, driving through the middle of SF, LA, during rush our traffic over the bay bridge. He told me a couple of trainees quit because of that, but I thought it was fun.
The other guy was cool also, he let me listen to the radio which the first guy did not ever do. Neither of the trainers ever lost their temper with me, and I did make some stupid mistakes, usually missing a turn, which could have ended in disaster as I was driving through some really small streets in LA and San Francisco.
The main thing those guys taught me was that driving a truck was fun, but being a truck driver did not fit my personality, I like to eat, sleep and get paid a decent wage!
My Werner drivers were OK, but I did get the impression that Werner does not screen the trainers well, and the main reason you are on the truck is to boost the drivers salary. Both drivers told me their salary went up quite a bit while I was on with them because we drove really hard. Neither instructor was concerned with helping me learn anything such as backing the truck -- since they were always in a hurry, it was always, "You can back the truck, next time, but we got to pick up the load right now!" I think it's good to have multiple trainers though, one of my trainers idea of pre-trip inspection was, "Air hoses connected, any air leaking?" OK, we are good to go!
Bottom line for me was Werner was OK, but they probably need to re-evaluate the way they train new drivers. They could do better.Dennis_Miller and Kash6972 Thank this. -
If it was CR England it would be 4 trainers in a day.
More likely would be 4 TRAINER TRAINESS in the truck .
Dennis_Miller Thanks this. -
I guess the OP should have just pushed it and had an accident?
