As I read the post, my heart went out to people that made very bad decisions in their life and even after the person has changed for better things and focused on life that just because what you did in your past is keeping you down. People do all sort of things in life and rise above the situation. In the eye sight of God a small white lie is a sin on the same scale as killing and on the same scale and treating people wrong just because you have authority. Werner is not helping people move forward from this policy. It really is a shame. There has to come a point in the company Mindset that they will think about the people more than themselves. People working for a good business will always give to the company the company needs to give back to its workers. Drug failures will always be grateful for a second chance.

I have not read the entire thread in detail, mainly because by and large, the posts, especially jimmybones' post, are 3 years old. I'm in school now at Sheridan Technical College in Pembroke Pines FL. Quick background about the quality of my school, ALL persons who are qualified as CDL examiners in the state of Florida, have been certified by the instructors at Sheridan.
Along with Roehl, Schneider, and Knight, I am considering Werner for my first job after school. We graduate December 18, 2014.
Having done two "long" road trips thus far, my most vivid observation was that we saw more Werner trucks on the road than any trucks from any other carrier.
I wonder who would want to hazard a guess as to why that is. Your objective feedback on the other three companies I'm considering will also be appreciated.
Thanks!!! -
Happy Thanksgiving to all people that read this post. I'm about to begin orientation with Werner on 3 December. I'm very excited about my new career after my 21 year career in the Army. Swift is the largest trucking in the industry. I read on Werner home page that they are the 5th largest trucking company. My instructors said to the class: stay with a company for at least a year. I have mentor that was a trucker and he gives me plenty of advice. He really let's me know what to expect on the road with my trainer. Also I watch Utube videos of Werner training, a guy name (sinister) gives very good advice. I'm ready to hit the road. I'm new but I always watch my post. Take care and be safe on the road.

I'm scheduled to start orientation on 12/29 in Lakeland. How's it been going for you? -
Wow, this thread took off long after I started it.
I'm still at Prime Inc, I recommend them highly over Werner. Not perfect, but they treat us right. -

That's ridiculous that anything that happened 10 years ago would cost you a job with a crappy company like Wiener. What it tells me is that they're probably overbooked on drivers and need to rachet up the BS so they can cut the flow of newbies. Once they get into a pinch for drivers suddenly word comes down from the brass that everybody short of convicted felons is good to go. I'm fairly certain that's how the recruiting game is played at all the "big fleet, inc" companies. They relax and tighten their standards based on how many trucks are sitting in the yards without drivers, not so much because of any principle or high minded standards.
