Good luck, and drive safe. Usually first trainers are pretty good. Just remember your in his truck/ home. So be respectful of that. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Sounds like you've been hitting the quiz book already. I enjoyed my first training, you get to see what it's really all about. There will be times when you get frustrated, it's normal, just try to keep positive, and you will do fine.

Well my current phase 1 student told me this morning that he quits and he will take a greyhound home. He said he hates being away from his two year old daughter and his fiancee. He said that after 5 years being in the Army and being away from home he is done working at a job that requires him to be away from home.

This guy finally was driving good and we were getting some good miles, but o well, on to the next student.

Sure don't know if I like this new format or not.

I guess the family bond when you have kids that little is the best idea, at least he gave it a try; I guess if he even got the training in unless he knew someone to get a job with for a local job, he would still have to be out at least a year to qualify with most companies.

Husband dropped off his student at the terminal today, the guy was not doing any better at all and really argumentative among other things, and the worst thing Monday he drove unsafe in a construction zone, not staying in his lane. He got up this morning after sitting on a Cargill load and said he didn't know if he wanted to drive or not. Let the terminal contend with him now. He I guess has ADD and it sounds like an authority disorder too.

Husband has new student already so hopefully he will do better, but he also has not ever driven a truck either, and is broke until he can get a pay advance on a fillup, which is ok because hubby has enough food for both right now.

    Good luck on yours Dewey.

    Be safe all.

Did your husband sign off on that student he dropped off?

I finally trusted my student enough where I could get some good sleep when he was driving and I could drive a full graveyard shift. I remember the first week i had this guy he said he would not get home sick because he was used to moving around and being away from his loved ones. But I guess everyone changes. I got hometime coming up so will run solo until then.

He did not sign off on him and he got him logged off the qualcomm. I am sorry to say that some people just do not care about what they are doing or tearing up either when they are driving your truck. He decided to race another truck on 80 today also, of course hubby's truck is governed still so it didn't get him anywhere, more of the ADD and confrontational disorder.

Yep, I guess things change, sometimes too quickly when dealing with emotions. Hope you enjoy your hometime, his is always too short and busy with all the stuff around here that seems to need fixing. We help our daughter who has 4 kids and driving our vehicles, so there is never a dull moment. It was always so draining when we both were on the truck to come home, do laundry, clean the house back up before we left, hit the chiropractor 60 m one way, work on the car, grocery shop, visit with grandkids one of whom was born on Valentine's day and we would only see every 3 mo.

At least you can enjoy your space and hope they hurry to get you hooked up with a new student soon, you know how they want in one hand and never coordinate it in the other to get you there. Frankly I don't know how you all do it with very little sleep some days.

It is the 1st whole day with new student that husband has and so far he is doing pretty good. A little more experience shifting will help, but he does at least have a good attitude so far. :biggrin_25520:
