My Expierence at CR England

It's been awhile Jake .. Hope you're hanging in. Did you start to train, how's it working out?

Just read most of this thread, *smiling already* . . . Dewey120, what kind of engines / trannys does CRE tend to buy and use?? How exactly does leasing work, is there a thread in here somewhere (edit: found this consensus is . . ? lol) Do you use your own lease truck while training others or company vehicle ?

lol Will definitely keep THAT in mind, your job seems impossible enough without arguments too . . . Get many "trainees" who really do have more experience than you? In other words, is there any way around the 18,000 mile slave requirement (question: phase1 is school, phase2 road with trainer?) if the so-called "student" already knows what they're doing ?

Have "a date" ( and hoping a local Owner/Operator hires me before the actual time comes !)

 

I have a series 60 13 speed but I think all those knew Cascadias are DD 15 9 or 13 speeds.

Yes you will be using your own lease truck for training purposes and all damage caused by student is your responsibility. So that gets really frustrating.

If you have verified experience you might be a STT student which is 10 days or less depending on when the trainer wants to sign off on the student.

 

gt4jk are you still at CRE? Was going to PM you, but didn't have enough posts to do so, figured might be best to just ask you here.

Thinking about applying as they claim to offer a zero tuition program with nine months of employment. Other's say that they deduct $50+ from your weekly paycheck.

Anyway, I know this thread is a bit old, but I figured posting here was worth a shot.

 

If you can read the CR England threads on this forum and still want to apply with them then you have serious reading comprehension issues. If you have and hope of making it in trucking stay away from this company as well as almost all companies that sponsor CDL training. Your chance of success are slim with those types of companies.

Get your CDL on your own and then you will have many more choices available.

 

They are just an option at this point. I have applications with Swift and Central, however, Swift is the only company that I have had steady contact with. The recruiter at Central Refrigerated was in contact with me a lot before I filled out the app and attached paperwork, now that it has been submitted I haven't heard back from them.

I have indeed read a lot about CR England, and they are only a last resort for me at this point. My local community college offers a CDL training course, but the next class doesn't start until August 2013. Live in a small area and my options are kind of limited in that regard.

I believe the 9 month deal is tied into a demo-lease that was for only 6 months and then they raised it to 9 month. You will have to consider having a Phase 2 student as soon as you can inorder to make enough money to pay for the lease payments, insurance, fuel, etc, and perhaps some for yourself. You also pay the student, if phase 2, it is .12 per mile. And students are sometimes great, and like Dewey says not so great.

 

I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would ever consider CR England as an option. I have not read one good review on their system. It's like a line of people jumping into a volcano and thinking they're going to be the first to not get burned.

 

They have a lot of long-time drivers that seem to be happy with them. Maybe you're only getting one side of the story?

 

You do NOT have to lease is merely an option for those impatient "gotta go truckin' now" - Upgraded out of "phaseII" week of Jan 28th and am told will have own company truck within the next couple of weeks ! While .25c/mile to start is not the greatest at this point Home Time is very important to me and will work on THAT as my next immediate goal.

Pay is rough, very 'lil coming in the beginning (due living expenses etc) and understand they give it back if u survive the 9 months. Very small % actually do . . .
