Hey but you know CRE I guess could require that if there were 2, you would possibly have to take them as your trainees, I'm not sure though.

Friday May 18, 2012 I'm sitting in my nice hotel room waiting for the phone to ring and the other person on the side of the phone would be my trainer...

Thursday May 17, 2012 - Received my employee ID today, on the way to dmv to get my CDL and then returning to the school for some more paperwork. So far so good, Hope I get at least two days until I am assigned to a trainer and Today I Have my commdata card and fuel card just waiting for the trainer to call me so I can start my phase 1 Training. I'm literally sitting by the phone waiting lol... Out of the 120 something students only 58 Graduated. The rest was sent home.

Wednesday May 16 2012 - I passed my road test today, It was fun! And nerve wrecking.

Tuesday May 15 2012 - I passed the skills test, to their expectations but not to mine... Tomorrow final road test and than I have my cdl.... I need all the help I can get... Passed air brakes and pre trip and in cab within 7 minutes a+

Monday May 14 2012 - Today was a good day, since we have a big class, only a third got to take their tests and three or so people failed and was sent home.

Sunday May 13 2012 - End day of Sunday have no problem with alley dock I always use one pull up that's because I want it perfectly straight. Parallel parking is no problem anymore. Straight line forward is fine and backward is fine. Pre trip is about 98% air brake tests is 100% and in cab inspection is 100%... Road skills, is 85% I need to slow down more on corners... Tests start tomorrow hopefully I pass and if so than I will have my cdl woot!

Saturday May 11 and 12 2012 - The past days I haven't checked in because we are just practicing skill backing and I was helping out few people with the air brakes but that's all that is happening the next few days

Thursday May 10 2012 - Today, city driving hill driving and more skill practice woot!

Wednesday May 9 2012 - Wednesday, I found out that I can alley dock; it's just listening to your trailer and doing what she needs. Just need to work on parallel parking and city driving... That's it woot! End of day Wednesday, I double clutch flawlessly, up and down... Got up to 50 today, it was cool! The instructor who was with me thought I was related to England's CEO or something lol...... I had very good day today. Need to work on skills such as alley dock and parallel parking and missed two things on the in cab inspection but have exactly four days to get it down

Tuesday May 8th Woo hoo I drove a big rig in the city, and did parallel parking... I did perfection in city driving but not so well in parallel parking... I love it! I'm very sun burnt and fairly red everywhere. I need to walk down the grocery store about three miles away and get some sun screen..... Stayed two hours after to practice air brakes test

Monday May 7th Second week Monday, WE ARE STRAIGHT LINE BACKING AND PRE TRIP AND AIR BRAKES WOOT!! Was very excited and nervous but did fairly well, started messing up but I caught it in time

Sunday May 6th Day seven is full of rest, a day by the pool and barbecue with a guy playing the guitar and the breeze is brushing throw my hair, it feels very relaxing NOT!.... that's what everyone else was doing.. I was up stairs studying.... But I have to admit I did spend maybe 3 hours out side doing the above

Saturday May 5th Day six, thinking on how am I going to steal these beds at the comfort inn very very very comfortable, never been in a bed such as this one, day six was final exam for orientation and in depth company policy, and health insure life insurance and all the good stuff, today was the day to say whether or not we are interested in the lease, more than 50 percent said yes, I of course said no, not because... it has a bad rep, it's just because I don't know the industry yet.... Waiting for grandma to come pick me up, so I can get laundry and store shopping done. One thing I have noticed, the instructors like to lie so many times regards to them saying that they will kick you out..... Sorry but not true... they need more bodies thus they will say this and that but actually they will try to move you along...

Friday May 4th - Day five didn't think I would make it this far..... But top five in my class and today is supposed to be about the Qualcomm and more pretrip and pre planning hopefully As to the point where I'm at right now, there was only a half hour discussion about becoming a lease operator, that's it. No scam so far that I see, it's really accelerated program. It's not for the faint of heart. Just now we went over the safety next is probably Qualcomm which I'm waiting for....
Today ended fairly well, we went over Qualcomm and safety regulations and have received the Qualcomm book and company policy and driver procedures books have some home work tonight, moving to the comfort inn because a lot of people didn't graduate in the next class.. I have a lot of food left in my hotel room wondering how it is going to be like moving all of that stuff

Thursday May 3rd Day four, trip planning and more in depth logging. Woot! It was fairly tough but I got it all, he had us trip plan from riverside to Ontario Canada and from there to Miami fl and from there back to riverside, and have to log and trip plan. And to see if you have enough hours and log the route you take. But the trick is you have already so many hours used and you have to recap most of your hours, and get there on time... It was challenging but fun, I was only hour late but only one other person got closer everyone else was either a day off or 34 hours off... Packing up to go to the holiday inn tomorrow.

Wednesday May 2nd Day three, getting tired of my roommate.... Just heavy breathing, and TV blasting loud, and ac always on.... Well day three mostly was a huge relaxing day as everyone but five guys were at the dmv and me and the five guys were on the pad doing pre trips and air brake tests.... Well at least I was and I can't say the other students were... I'll post some pictures of the trucks that I took so I could practice the pre trip. While at the hotel, they just bought like 600 trucks last week, so most of the trucks on the pad are rather new......

Tuesday May 1rst Day two is full of practicing the permit tests, while I fly through it everyone else but one guy crawls through it. Got a 100 on the tests first round and another test don't know yet, I'm studying the green book while I have free time. Today ends with a bunch of homework, and studying to do if I want to get far ahead of class which I do, everyone but five guys including me are going to the dmv to take their tests, while me and five other guys are on the pad doing pre trip... and air brake tests.... SWEET!! But again hours of studying... my roommate thankfully went home for a while so I can study... Today was a good day. Have most of the green book memorized, so I'm sure that will be also a plus. I asked the instructor if we could go on the pad after class or on the weekend to practice he said no.... So..... Crap.... Well I'm back to studying

April 30th Monday On break so far talked about health and re did the dot physical exam paper work; hopefully I'll know if I do pass the background check and other checks.... But hopes are high...... They do like to say that lease drivers make more money which is true but they don't say that you need to take on payment... That's all I've heard about the lease side only 25 minute talk about it and hasn't been mentioned so far. ‎120 people and 5 girls... a lot of people are going home today I can just feel it; hopefully I won't be going home today... Shuttle has to take four trips, a lot of hurry up and wait I think
Finally done and going back to the hotel, hopefully tomorrow is better, got the green book from hell lol... The motor carrier's safety regulations.... 589 pages of laws... How fun... Got homework today, just study for the practice permit test... Want to get a bunch of sandwiches and stuff my face... I'm so hungry, and I have a headache because of it. Got a 98 on my fmsr test, and so far I've been passed regards to medical.

How do they pay you during the school phase? When and how much? I'm about to go on Monday, but unemployment insurance ran out, and I'm going to be running on very little ready cash, as a result...:biggrin_25524:

I already have my CDL, but I still have to do orientation before being sent out on phase I.

They don't and niether does anyone else. You are not an employee until after you get through school/orientation.

And out of curosity ... how in the heck does anyone accept a job where you get on bus, leave your home, with very little finacial resources and haven't bothered to do your due diligence of how, when and how much you are going to get paid.

You may be a strong candidate for June's CRE screwed me over post.

:biggrin_25514:I sure hope they hurry and get you a trainer; it seems like the network to get the trainee and trainer together is sometimes hard since they usually have to route the truck to the trainee from point A where there is not a lot of empty miles to be paid for.

Good luck on your maiden voyage; just be safe and make sure if nothing else that you go over your routing as to what and where you will be driving. The worst thing is the unexpected such as road closures. If you can save up money to get a GPS that would be great too, I imagine that a lot of the trainers already have one and it makes life a lot easier; just remember that they can get you in trouble too if you are not careful, it will try to get you on the closest road if it has to revamp and sometimes that may not be where you should be. My husband has a Rand McNally Roadmaster which is good; a long time ago we used the Garmin which was just for cars so it wasn't bridge safe and it didn't tell you soon enough when you were supposed to turn.

When I went with my husband I liked to have a washable page roadmap and the eraseable markers where I could trace over the route; used the 3" large paperclips to paperclip the pages to each state.

If you have a computer that is great too if you have the internet aircard; then you can use google maps if you want to see the mapping on the screen; zoom in and you can verify in some cases that the address is really there; he has eneded up with them where they have moved 25 miles away among other things. The worst addresses are to small cities who still use route numbers in some places like WI for one; sometimes I have found a address to something else if the Roadmaster didn't work just to get him in the general area.

    Have a good weekend.

Dewey120: Have you noticed if they cut your miles if you do not do as they wish and go with the Phase 1 training. Just my observation with CRE.:biggrin_25511:

That's good advice, I use google earth and like to look closely at where I will be going. Especially when getting off the highway and going thru towns to get to shipper. You can see how tight the turns are and what might be the best route. You can also look at shippers, cause I'm telling you, the truck entrance might not even be on the same road as the address. I find it to be very handy.

It seems like some of the vendors think they can pile on whatever weight they want and get away with it. Husband had to have a beer load reloaded because it was way over weight; I was really surprised on this since it use to be that beer loads were the best to haul. Some of the docks won't even load the trucks the right way either unless you pitch a fit, one round the trailer had to be reloaded 4 times. :biggrin_25516:

I think more of you that have problems with these type vendors need to start raising cane. The newbies are the ones who are getting caught and don't have a clue what to do or who to take the problem to. :biggrin_2557:
