My first and last week as a new Schneider Driver.

    I can’t blame you for being done. But it may have been worth summarizing what all has happened in a message to your home terminal, and asking for a new truck. Give them a bit of time to read it then follow up with a call. Then, if they didn’t make arrangements at that time, grab your flight.

    I’m surprised Schneider is running garbage like that, but I guess everyone is having trouble getting the trucks they need.

    I drove for Schneider out of Phoenix for nearly six months, Nicole Schoenborn was my DM. I really can't say anything bad about them except the pay was a few cents per mile lower than the other OTR companies in the PHX area. Of course, I only went to them because those other companies wouldn't hire me at the time.

    If you needed an empty van they knew where to send you to find one and it was usually there. I can't say that about any other mega I worked for.

    As for the maintenance dept. I had trouble with emissions related warning lights coming on (check engine) and they merely cleared the code, only for it to come back on a few hours later.

    I worked there a few years ago,I made it 3 weeks.$300 paychecks 2 weeks in a row was enough for me.Most of my time was wasted waiting to get loaded or unloaded.I get to the warehouse on time but there is 20 trucks ahead of me.Theres only 1 guy in the warehouse that can run the forklift,so 14 hours later I get loaded.I quickly figured out I was just getting trailers loaded,then taking them to a lot somewhere and drop it.Then someone else would come get the load and deliver it.
    I gave up on Schneider and went home,back to hauling gravel for 2k a week and going home every night.

    Pair of vise grips and back the brake off could have solved all this. As for the EGR get used to it there all junk

    They flew me in to pick the truck up, 1st mistake was thinking I could make it back home where I had a tool bag setup and ready to go.

    Vise grips will get you off the road and back to the shop.

    True but the egr problem was petty

    That's if it was actually the problem. I'm no mechanic and don't pretend to be one, but I don't think you get 25% power reduction for a bad egr valve.

    It would do it for sure on the new stuff. The real problem is that they tried to blame it all on batteries. Ha Ha What a joke of a shop. Tried to pass the buck down the road. This is the reason I never could of worked for anyone other than myself. Hopefully you can find a place that is worth working for.

    In my short time so far at Schneider it does seem like new recruits get the older, more problematic trucks, to then get swapped out of them into newer equipment in about 6 months or so. I don't know if that's company-wide, but it's been my observation from some of the folks I attended orientation with. In my position, I don't have an assigned tractor so I end up with whichever loaner is in the yard at the OC at the time. Those also tend to be the oldest in the fleet. Each time I'm in a different truck, it's rare that I don't end up putting it into the shop for something. Sometimes significant issues like major air leaks or fuel system problems that left me on the side of the road once. Even still, I'm happy with the company and what I'm doing.
