Yeah that's a no go.

I’ve been at this a few years. For brokered freight my truck does not move an inch until I get an appropriate rate con. If there is a holdup receiving the rate con, I start looking for another load. Too often things change.
That said you should have picked up the load. You have no bargaining power when you’re bobtail at a closed shipper.Trucker61016, D.Tibbitt, Siinman and 3 others Thank this. -
I ain't been at it too long, but I'm with you. Actually, I don't usually move until I've talked with both shipper and receiver too, to verify pickup and delivery details.
That has saved me more times than anything. Wrong address, directions, times, etc. It's hard for me to get pissed when things go wrong, and it's my fault for blindly believing a rate con. -
The money was not the issue. I agreed to haul it for $500 and I would stand by that. But when he tried to get cute, that's when I had to bring out the ugly stick. As for not picking it up earlier...what planet are you living in? The days of honor are over. You would have to be an IDIOT to drive 30 miles through DFW rush-hour traffic without having a valid contract. You've never heard of drivers getting to the shipper and then the load is canceled or given to someone else?
It's just bad business practice to start rolling without all the ducks being in a row. My mistake was rolling without the ratecon to begin with. I should have stood pat until everything was kosher.
They screwed up and I have a valid paper trail AND an enforceable ratecon to back me up. Now, do I WANT to take that load on Monday? I don't know yet.Trucker61016, Oxbow and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Maybe I'm reading it wrong or missing something but regardless of power only, that run is 600 miles. So how can you be content with making $500 off it? After fuel its no money left?
Phoenix Heavy Haul, Jubal Early Times, TheLoadOut and 2 others Thank this. -
Well, I tried to pick it up but I was a few minutes late. I was actually there 10 minutes before they closed. But between waiting for the ratecon and them sending me to the shop where the trailer was a block down the street, they went home.
Do you mean I should have just gotten the load and then used it as leverage until I got the new ratecon?Siinman Thanks this. -
It was $500 on a 7-day load-out. That is actually very good. TQL tries to pay $50 on loadouts!JonJon78 Thanks this.
-
But I DO have a proper ratecon. They just sent it to me late. He even tried to send me a ratecon this morning for the $75 TONU!Siinman Thanks this.

I'm not familiar with this, and I apologize. Please explain what it means?TexasRiverRat, Siinman and gekko1323 Thank this.
