I didn't see a maintenance section, therefore I decided to post it here. After refueling both tanks I noticed that I was running out of gas quicker than normal. I stopped again to refuel and noticed that my driver's side tank was filled to the top while the other tank was completely empty.
Can anyone tell me why the truck stopped pulling gas from one tank? I am also getting poor gas mileage. My buddy has the exact same truck and he's getting four more miles to the gallon than I am. I am getting right at 8 miles per gal (highway). I've changed the gas filter, and check tire pressure weekly. I have a 2000 Freightliner with a Mercedes egine and its a 6 speed.
Thank you for any info you can provide

First, do you mean gas? or diesel? Two things I can think of but there could be more, are
1; cross over line valve between the tanks is closed.
2; vents in the tank that's full are plugged.
But it would probably help if you gave us more info on the type of truck? -
Beat me to it... gas?

Like to see your BUDDIES truck that gets 12 MPG also like to see a 2000 FRLR Highway tractor with MB engine in it , think they were introduced in 2003 in the CLASS 8 trucks.

Like Joe Friday used to say...."Just the facts, Mam"

What kind of truck? What are the truck specs? Diesel or gas? What kind of trailer? How heavy is the equipment? How heavy are the loads? What part of the country do you run in? Do you check the mileage using gallons burned divided by miles traveled or do you depend on what some gadget tells you?

HELLO
Freightliner had the 5ton VERSIONS ( straight truck ) with MB diesels in them in 2000 as well. -
I agree but a little more information could validate this and lead to some insight for the OP. -
Something can have been sucked up into your pick up pipe (suction pipe or what ever its called there) therefore it is drawing very little from that tank. Or as said, that tanks breather could be blocked.
Blow the pipes to make sure they are clear.
