You declined to answer the questions in your profile as to whether or not you are a driver and, if so, for how long, so I have no idea whether or not you have been there. Many of us have and it's a whole different world when you are faced with it.
Nevermind, it is tough to explain to someone who's not been there and is above reproach.
Maybe he shouldn't have done what he did, but he did it and he made it through it okay.

Let me add this: Now that he's experienced it, he knows what to look for and has a better idea of what not to do in the future.

Does not the fact that I know the ends and outs of what you speak not tell you that Im a driver. And yes Ive been there, and not above reproach.Have I scorched the books,no.Nothing justifies that ever.No freight is worth a drivers career or the publics safety period. That shouldnt even be a matter of discussion to a I.E. professional driver. And you are correct.Perhaps his having been through this has taught him some things.Lets hope so.Hopefully he can find a company that doesnt even consider putting a driver in this type of situation.

Nope, nothing that you have said on here convinces me that you're a driver. We have lots of folks that "know the ends and outs" that aren't necessarily drivers. I've hauled uranium, but that doesn't make me a nuclear physicist.
As for finding a company that doesn't consider putting a driver in this situation (running over on hours): good luck. Most all of them will at least try, at one time or another. It's up to the driver to keep him/herself out of trouble.

LMAO! Professional drivers wear collared polo style shirts with the company logo on the chest, drive trucks that max out at 62mph, and take 48 hours to drive 1000 miles!

The driver would be listed as "covered" on the company's insurance.

Just a word mix up. "Insurance in my name", compared to "my name on the insurance".

    Mikeeee

No he would not be ,FLEET insurance does not LIST the individual driving the vehicle , think of the $ associated with updating on a daily basis with the driver turnover most fleets go through.

Wow, ok - this thread has taken a dramatic turn. Let me clarify a few things.

    1) I do not LIKE or WANT to drive past my 11 hours. But, being my first run and with all the delays and setbacks that went along with it, the company asked me to make my dock appointment and I did. Should I have said no to them ? Maybe.... but the way I hear a lot of companies and dispatch work - that may have been the kiss of death for me. Every driver I have met at the truck stops and spoken with has similar stories - so dont try and chastise me like you are impervious to this. I didn't run 20 straight hours drinking red bulls and energy boosters (ever notice the stacks of them at check out at the truck stop ? I wonder why.....) and when I got to the point that I did NOT feel safe driving, I stopped. Yes, I only slept a few hours, but those few hours gave me plenty of energy to make my delivery.

It was MY choice to be a team player, and MY ticket if caught. I know this. Was it a smart decision ? No. But it was the decision I made - I wanted to get the load to the Aldi warehouse on time, and I wanted dispatch to know that I can do the job.

Get another job you say ? Ok - I know a few companies would LOVE to hire me and pay me $400 a week before taxes to be gone for 2-3 months at a time. (CRST, SWIFT, WERNER, ECT.) But I left Sunday and was home Wednesday afternoon and made almost $700 CASH. (yeah, he also doesnt want to pay payroll taxes or 1099 forms, so he pays me cash)

How many other new drivers with less then 2 month experience EVER have the joy of being home with their families half of the week and only being gone 3-4 days and make $700 take home ?

    2) Ok - what does it matter about the insurance, that is just dumb. My name on the truck policy, company policy, whatever. Seriously - all I know is that there WAS an insurance papers in the binder for THAT truck in the truck with the registration and vehicle inspection ok ?

I made sure all the proper paperwork was in the binder, and also made sure I had my DOT card and CDL on me before leaving in the truck.

Agreeing to disagree is in direct conflict of a self-righteous attitude.
