go be an air traffic controller. trucking is going down. slowly but surely the trucking career is going away. I estimate by 2025 there won't be much of a need for truckers. by then they will have the bugs in self driving semi worked out. so the driver will only be needed to bring it in off the road.

Think about how many times you see a licensed driver do something stupid like drive across a pedestrian bridge and then say "I followed my GPS!" Imagine if there wasn't a driver in there. Believe it or not, for every driver that does something stupid blindly following tneir GPS there's thousands of situations where the driver didn't follow the GPS' bad instructions and avoided a bad situation. All those instances would now be potential accidents.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Also bring it off the road.... Can you even imagine how huge traffic will be when 50+ semis gonna wait on a shoulder for person who will drive them in the city???
And who will be RESPONSIBLE for wrecks ? manufacture? Or road workers for making #### road ?
Also can't imagine autosemi pulling to gas pupm and filling itself....
So yeah no wonder why you trucker and did not win a lottery ticket yet -
and i wanna give everyone an idea about the autonomous age. year not going to see mass lay offs at all. instead what's been going on. trucking companies are cutting back on buying the same number of trucks. the have also started parking and selling off trucks and cutting number of drivers needed. that so when the autonomous age starts taking over. it will be less obvious when trucking companies start lay off drivers.

Just an opinion here but I know two Airtraffic Controllers who work at DFW and you think trucking is stressful you have no idea. ATC is a very stresfull job. Plus its monotonous(probably spelled wrong) and if you are someone who like adventure and never knowing whats around the corner the trucking is for you. You can always come to Alaska and I can get you work on a fishing boat lmao
tucker Thanks this. -
One thing to keep in mind ATC work REQUIRES rotating shifts and mandatory overtime. Both of these are major issues for controllers. You can't work just days or just night or swing shifts. You will work each of those shifts for a few weeks and then move to another shift for a few weeks, and so on. -

Air traffic control is going to eat you up. Ive looked into it myself.
As long you maintain your health regardless of what else that goes on, you get into driving whatever it is you want to haul. Industry is a feast and famine. If you are careful and build up a few thousand in savings you will do way better than 90% out there.
Life is supposed to be a journey. However you write the blank chapter today, tomorrow and into the future is yours to write. Not mine, not billy, not Jane no body but yours.
Good luck!
PS IF you are going to do the air traffic, try to do it from a Center rather than a Approach/Departure or Ground. Center is much more organized tracking everyone above angles 140. And those coming upstairs to cross the world at your command. And saying good bye to those coming back downstairs to approach.
