Overall I like my Garmin dezlcam. It gives as bad of directions as any GPS does but the camera part has saved me twice from getting blamed for two minor collisions.

Strange thing I just found out though.

Every week I drive to all the big towns in Wyoming. Every time I go to the Walmart and Sam's Club in Cheyenne the GPS would want me to take the road with the roundabout and real tight turns.

Just yesterday though I happen to have my GPS in car mode instead of truck mode. And this time it direct me to go the way I've always been going for the last year bypassing all that.

GPS never warned me of any restrictions or low clearances going either way.

Just for some reason you got to be in car mode in order to get the truck safe route on this particular delivery.

I think this is a flaw in their mapping software. One of many.

I have several customers I go to regularly. And my Garmin can’t find a proper way in to save my life. Always wanting me to get off early, or later.

While it’s not an issue at the moment. It could quickly turn into one in the future

Always get out your Rand McNally Motor Carriers Atlas and decide the truck route for your area.

If necessary go online and contact Wyoming DOT or Carrier enforcement to verify the route old school by phone.

Do NOT blindly depend on your GPS people have gotten into trouble in the past.

It’s not just Wyoming. The Dezl’s [truck mode] have been getting stupider and slower the past 5 years with each “update” and new generation. They add 1 new feature and 2 things get worse.

Bizarre routing behavior happens everywhere with new garmins. You must always be diligent in monitoring what it’s doing and wants to do later AHEAD OF TIME before it puts you behind the eight ball.

My 770 recently notified me of new updates and map (early December 2018). Put them on yesterday but too early to tell if there are any improvements or new issues.

when i had my Rand, i had the Rand website to download updates and then if i needed to, "let Rand know", or something like that, where i could send them reports about a problem.

doesn't your Garmin have any such link on the updating website?

I haven’t looked in a long time but years ago, making a problem report was like trying to get a bill through Congress. I think they only have a handful of beta testers who can easily submit problem reports.

i think i only reported 2 problems, and i got an email (most likely a standard one) saying something like, ":thank you for contacting us".....

i cannot say if any problems were corrected based on my report(s)....much like M$ when they ask for a problem/error report........

You should be able to do a long finger press on the screen when a problem is in view. This will save the route (destination), current location, and vehicle profile, user’s email, map and software version, ask for brief notation, compile it, then send it. Done. They can replicate the scenario in their emulators and figure it out for themselves.

And another thing to be aware of with “traffic aware” devices is that it may be routing around perceived construction closures or traffic problems, real or not. Make sure to DISABLE “automatic re-routing” then it will ask you what you want to do and you can verify the issue.
