I work at PAM i was hired under choctaw express. i run decated and i am first seat. if you think something is a miss call your dispatcher and then hear what they say then if you feel it aint right then call safety .

and yes you can go over and mess up your logs running teams when they expect you to run from pick up to drop off and its farther then 682 driven miles. thats as far as you can really go when your truck will only do 64 mph. cus you still wont avg 62 mph over 11 hours. most of the decaited runs are 600 to 666 miles paid but that is from zip code to zip code. real miles will be more and they are free miles pam gets out of you.

dave 1960 if you change your duty status at 5am to on duty and 530 to driving you can only drive till 1900 pm due to the 14 hour rule. and only 11 of them hours can you really drive. the spring hill tn to irving run is a real pain because it takes every minute of your 11 hours.

as for trainers you can always get a new one.

to the person just coming back to trucking i we suggest a different company. there is a lot of "I DONT KNOW" and as for other stuff please read this entire post and see what others have said about this company.

i wish central would buy them out . i hear they are a better company to work for.

Well I work for PAM and there is no sign on bonus, Last week I had only 630 miles and many hours to unload at GM sites, I have reset my 70 clock twice in 7 days and have waited almost 3 days to load, truck washes are now once every other month, you are rite they do leave you alone but everything else you said is correct. But with low pay and no miles who cares and with my load in am I have a 413 mile trip I will have waited 3 day to load, at least I spent the 3 days applying at other companies
PS a PAM driver was the 1 who rear ended Senator Harry Reeds wife

have you thought about getting switched to the decated gm runs? 2 to 3 runs a week or maybe running teams on the gm line? somthing to think on. we run 4 to 5 runs a week to spinghill, tn so miles aint to bad for PAM but still not the greatest.

This reply is to Kevin. I don't work for PAM yet, but I might be if Lea approves of the medical records I faxed her this morning. If what you say about the Reid thing is true, I feel a little better about the invasion of privacy. Nothing like a humungus law suit to make a company dot every "i" and cross every "t" when hiring new drivers. After reading all these posts, I stiil feel comfortable going with PAM. I have hauled for a lot of companys and it is for sure that if there is freight, they will keep a good driver rolling. Take my advise; A trucking company's repptation with it's customers rests largely with the drivers it uses. If you limit your "bad hair" days to the cab of the truck, word will get around and you will be in demand. Always be nice to the shipper. Always be nice to the receiver. Having been a dock forman, I can tell you first hand that an uncooprative or angry driver can make the news up the chain to management. A bad report from anyone of them can give you and your company a bad name. The words "suck it up" come to mind. Easier said than done, I know, but after all, comparitively speaking, that why we (once apon a time) make the BIG bucks.

I'm hoping that PAM gets some Kia business. They are in the process of ramping up production at thier new West Point, GA. plant. I don't know who has thier logistics contract, but there should be plenty of freight to spread around. Not to mention the business PAM is doing with CT. I live halfway between the two, so I don't think hometime will be a big issue for me. Of course, as a newbie, I'll have to run the system for a while. I spoke with Pamela at PAM yesterday and she asked if I was willing to run team. It's not my first choice, but I'll do whatever I have to to get my foot in the door. They've penciled me in for orientation on the 29th at Tonitown. I think I'll read all of these posts again to get a better idea of what I'm in for. Stay safe.

alot of everything also depends on where you live. i live in irving so im lucky. if you live near a home dock then and they have decated runs then you could luck out and be home on weekends. if you dont live near one you may get shipped to pam freight. solo or teams.
im doing 4 runs tn to irving tx ok miles but its team driving and sometimes you just dont want to go because sleeping when the truck is hauling down the road is hard unless you are dead tired. if you get motion sick or think nawa im good ... take some acid reducers with you just in case. all that moving will give you heartburn or acid reflux . i never had a problem till i started running teams.
i still think solo decated is the way to go. 3 runs a week with atleast 600 miles each way and its a nice ck. IF i could talk my dispatcher in to it i would make about 999 each week gross. i could feel easy about that but running teams is more like 770 on 4 trips each way. so 8 paid trips at a crapy .145 cents and dont forget they take out 5% off the top for the company.dont know why i need to give up 5% sence this is one of the lowest paying jobs in trucking. really chaps my hide getting "bent over all the time"

there is alot of ID Know and ID care in this company. just get to your load ### on time and thats all they care about it seems. alot of what i have been told by one person ill ask someone else and they go IDK and pass the bucket.
if you get on a decated run make sure you get enough time to stop and piss and they aint trying to get you to a consignee in 12 hours if you have to drive 11 at top speed of 64 mph . due to traffic and no fly zones you may not make it on time if you stop for fuel and piss twice ... talk to your dispatcher and get atleast 13 or 14 hours just to be sure you can make it safely.
    be safe and hammer down...:sign5:

    Nomad 57 Thanks this.
