Dave, sorry to hear about your slow couple of days. What kind of miles are you getting? Here's hoping you get that dedicated route you want.
My honest, no BS, opinion of P.A.M.

I don't keep a good idea of my miles. I know the trip before this one paid 1400 or so and this one 831. So somewhere in the 2K a week area I think.
Another thing about a dedicated is the miles are a sure thing.jasper_truck86 Thanks this. -
Well I am about 100% sure that I'm not going to Driver Solutions or driving for PAM. Too many drivers have sent out warnings on this forum, not to mention the low miles that have been reported & the low cpm starting pay. Compared to my other entry-level options, there are several other companies that pay more cpm and offer more miles. Whoever does choose PAM, good luck to you!

jasper, had I known then what I know now...
It is quite likely I'd not be driving for PAM.
My truck has a LOT to do with it. After 10 days in Tontitown to fix things such as Check Engine light, Tractor ABS light and Opti-Idle falling off during the night among other stuff.....
All three things are back. If they won't turn the automatic idle shut off OFF they are going to HAVE to get me a different truck before winter rolls around.jasper_truck86 Thanks this. -
I just can't afford to be broke down making nothing and not making much more while driving. That's my main reason I chose Central Refrigerated over PAM. Central has nice equipment that is well maintained and I have talked to several new drivers that are getting solid miles anywhere from 2,800-3,200 miles/week and that is every week. I haven't talked to a PAM driver in a long time that isn't disgruntled about their job.

Also, PAM does NOT tell you to falsify logs. I've been here now four years have NEVER been TOLD to falsify anything. They might ask you if there is a way you can get a load done, but will NEVER force you to do anything illegal.
As a trainer, I am CONSTANTLY re-powering loads from those that don't know how to plan their trips or are just too lazy to get them done right.
If you are on meds that ARE approved to be on the truck, then why be scared to take a test? Unless you are taking drugs not prescribed by a doctor. As long as you have a prescription for the meds you are on, you will NOT be fired for a dirty drop. The only way to get fired is to refuse to take a test or take one and they find an unprescribed drug in your system. So please, tell us what drugs you were afraid of being caught taking?[/quote]
As another poster here said, your's is only one side of the story. And of coarse, as a disgruntled driver that more than likely got fired, your not going to say anything nice. Of coarse you couldn't have possibly did anything wrong yourself. And from the sound of it, you refused a drug test. Something EVERY COMPANY will fire you for.
Don't forget, refusing that drug test will keep you from getting hired on almost anywhere worth working. And it will more than likely make you lose your TWIC and HAZMAT (if you have it). Enjoy your life...jasper_truck86 Thanks this. -
i been reading about pam 2 YEARS there always gonna be something that somebody don't like about a company my good thing about the company i am close to school close terminal if were getting 2100-2300 miles a week not bad for starter CHIP DO U THINK THE COMPANY IS IMPROVING IN ALL PARTS OR DO U THINK THERE STILL THE SAME
-
Now that it's been a year since the CEO has been in his position, I kind of see what he's doing, by adding more team runs and doubles/triples with hazmat runs. He's trying to diversify us a bit more than we were previously. I think adding more reefers to the fleet would be a good thing. I'm still on the fence as I'm not used to the strict atmosphere with PAM, as AFS had a more laid back approach.
Miles are never consistent and never will be. It's an ebb and flow industry. Average solo I make about 2200-2400 miles a week, with a student about 3600-4000. It really boils down to how much work you're willing to do. Anyone that says they're not getting over 2000 miles just isn't trying. Instead of sitting waiting for your appointment time to come along, call dispatch or the customer directly and see if that appointment time can be moved up. And give them a REASONABLE ETA. A little bit of initiative never hurt anyone.jasper_truck86 Thanks this. -
Leave it to me to say hey, I'm not driving for PAM after hearing all the negative chatter and then you guys come out with some good things to say about PAM. LOL

Im set to go to school in indy sept 6th, pam is gonna be my company to start with after school is done. I realize the 300 per week is low while with the trainer, thats to be expected. My question is, What bring home pay am i to expect if i run 2200 or more miles a week ? And how long do i have to team before going solo ? I gotta start out and climb my way up,i understand that> But Thanks for any info anyone
