I've seen some of that when visiting friends in Asia. We get to the home and the inlaws or even grandparents, open the door.
The whole time we're visiting, the in-laws are standing in the background staring and glaring at us, not wanting us to be there.
They'll bang on the bedroom door, if it's locked, at 5am and yell, "Time to get up, breakfast is ready!"
If the bedroom door isn't locked, they just walk in.
Have to lay the law down from day one that no in-laws or grandparents are allowed to live there and can only visit, then go home.
