I understand the concept of "being ahead" as a company driver, but some people, despite the fluctuations may see themselves better fit to own their own business and navigate the highs and lows, me on the other hand can't see myself stepping away from the comforts of a company position based on the security that comes with it. I'm not trying to post for arguments sake, simply stating my opinion whether that be right or wrong.

I don’t care if you run for $1.34 mile or four dollars a mile if you’re fiscally Responsible in your finances then you should do just fine but if you’re horrible with your finances I don’t care if you’re running for four dollars a mile if you cannot manage your finances you’re not gonna make it anyway… Sadly but it comes down to properly manage your finances and knowing what you can spend what you can’t spend to meet your bottom line etc.

I haul mainly loads that require a hazmat and tanker endorsement, thats why the majority of my loads pay over or near $3.00 to the truck. The two $4.00+ Loads I hauled last week were for one of the two biggest players in the convenient beverage and food industry. Both for the same agent who stated “this customer is willing and able to pay top dollar to insure their product gets moved.”Winnyf1, BigR, MidWest_MacDaddy and 15 others Thank this. -
I haven't said anything on this thread. Or have I?
Anyway, this will be my only post.
I'm so proud of everyone for not dragging their Dad's into it, but instead getting their nags involved.
Two thumbs up.
My nag will kick you nag's ###. -
the rate at which he worked while leased to a larger motor carrier has absolutely no direct bearing on rates. The motor carrier he was leased to set their rates to their customers (and likely did not share the rate with their sub contractors) the fact that the subcontractor was willing to work for what you determine is subsistence wages is irrelevant.
I am all for busting balls, but you need to back off on this one. As for what you haul freight for - I most likely would stay at home and sit on my couch for.VinceBlack, BoostedTeg, Boardhauler and 14 others Thank this.
