I told break down the bracket was FUBAR, and to either have them bring something to heat it up and bend it back out,
or torch it off and jerryweld a new bracket.

At least the tech they sent out doesn’t look and act like he was working at Jiffy Lube two weeks ago.

I once loved this industry and was proud to be a part of it, now as much as I hate to say it, it’s just a way to provide for my family.

Now, granted I’m making more money than ever, but it’s the the lack of respect for your fellow driver, and the “it’s all about me” attitude out here. A few examples, very few drivers pull forward after fueling anymore, it’s common courtesy. Twice this week I’ve had drivers pour urine out of their windows, which in turn splashed all over my clean truck. Yesterday I’m walking back to my truck in broad daylight, and a lazy POS steps out of his truck and literally starts urinating right there for all to see. I freaking went ballistic, this guy couldn’t understand why I was upset. He literally said “do you own this parking lot?”

I have no issue with people coming to this country LEGALLY and trying to provide for their families. At least learn enough of the language to be able to communicate with shippers/receivers, fuel clerks, etc. In the last few weeks I’ve witnessed first hand, and heard from shippers and receivers that drivers get upset that they can’t communicate and act like it’s other’s peoples fault.

I would venture to guess pretty close to half of drivers out here anymore aren’t originally from this country, the old hands are retiring and the vast majority of young people aren’t interested in getting into the industry.

Granted my views aren’t Politically correct, and may offend some WOKE folks, if I hurt your feelings go find a safe place and take a few deep breath’s.Rant over.

Well I know another driver that agrees with your PC way of thinking.

Yeah it’s a race to the bottom and all of the recent stories regarding driver shortages will only exacerbate the decline.

I’m glad I’ve been able to participate in the industry, but honestly if the right opportunity came that would get me out of the cab I’d likely grab it. Between annoying truckers and clueless four wheelers sometimes I wonder why we bother.

Ah well, hopefully a trip through MT will mellow me, stay safe out there!

When I first started driving a truck it was an honorable job done by hard working drivers. When I pulled into a consignees facility they knew what
I had and were glad to unload it. When I pulled on a fuel island an attendant would come out and pump my fuel. bump my tires and wash my windows.
Then deregulation came around quickly followed by JIT trucking, the results are what you have today, unwashed, uncaring drivers washing their feet in the sink, drivers being babysat by satellite, given an allowance as their "managers" see fit. I'm glad that throughout the years I always had a much better than average job, but that was when trucking was more about service than a numbers game. Retirement suits me me well and I would not ever think of going back to the way it is now.

I agree, this is just a way to make money any more, not a lifestyle, or career.Between the idiot drivers of all vehicles, the traffic, and road construction just about everywhere, I would also hang it up, if there was a reasonable way to do it.
Saw an advertisement on an ARKA trailer the other day...."Make trucking fun again". Sorry, I doubt that will ever happen.....

When the guy was pissing in the parking lot, and said "do you own the lot", I might have said "No, and I don't believe you do, either."

It boggles the mind the lack of self respect some have for them selves. If I had my wife or daughter with me, I would have probably gone to jail.

I doubt it too and after 59 years, 3 months ago, I said the "hell with it". Do I miss it? No way I miss what trucking has become. I lay on my pillow at night and memories run through my mind but then I realize that those memories were in another life, water under the bridge, gone forever, never to be lived again.

I know the video that the link below will open is not about trucking, but some how I connect it to the life that I once lived and enjoyed.in trucking. Pardon me if you do not connect as I do.
A River Runs Through It - Ending (complete) - YouTube

The last words of the video are, "I am haunted by water". I am haunted by the memories of the highway, when I loved trucking and thoroughly enjoyed it.

@runningman0661 I was waiting for an update on your MD Alignment, I listen to Mike every Thursday and he seems like a wealth of knowledge, I don't think the company I work for would ever spring for a MD Alignment (there is a mobile MD in Florida), but I would love to see what they could do with the Mack Anthem I drive. I've had it since new and I believe I've had 6 alignments, or failed attempts in my opinion, in the 265,000 miles I've put on it. It refuses to go straight, pulls right, not hard but noticeably, and to me the steering is so sensitive, for every correction of the right pull you're going left before you know it, so the 11 hour struggle of keeping it straight is enough to drive me nuts. My only hope at this point is whatever they put me in next is better than this.
