This will be the last time I address this since you seem to not be able understand the concept. THERE ARE NO COMPANY DRIVERS AT LANDSTAR. Some guys that own several trucks (fleet owners) put drivers in those trucks, but they still have to pass Landstars qualifications and go through the lengthy hiring process. They are paid by the truck owner, not Landstar.

    BigR and Jarhed1964 Thank this.

No they were in landstar trucks and trailers. Might have been that fleet thing that guy was talking about. I have no idea. I'm just repeating what I was told.

I mean one who told me to only be an OO with landstar was an OO. That I remember specifically. He said the company drivers get screwed with low pay and miles. He was in a black Pete. Nicest guy you ever met, spoke very highly of LS but said he would never be a company driver with them. He was talking to me and a hot shot driver who were all shooting the #### in the parking lot passing time.

Now why a LS driver would tell me he would never be a company driver with his company when that company doesn't have company drivers makes no sense.

Now this did happen back in 2018. This wasn't recently, perhaps they had a company driver division back then.

They didn't used to even own the trailers. They were all leased. They do not own the orientation centers or even their headquarters. It is all leased. When I was there several years back, they didn't even own a truck to give incoming O/Os a road test, so they accepted their CDLs as proof they could drive. As accepted by the FMCSA. They probably still do this.
Landstar is considered to be an asset-light company.

Just been rolling along doing my thing. I just delivered a load of cabinets (full trailer) from Kinston, Nc to Grand Rapids. I usually don’t do these loads because it’s driver assist, but this load was paying great, so I rolled the dice and took it. The crew and I at the receiver knocked the whole trailer out in an hour and twenty minutes.

I dead headed down to Sturgis, Michigan and picked up a load going to Durham, Nc for tomorrow. From there I will head home and most likely be done for the year.

I’m putting the truck in the shop Wednesday to get all new shocks, and brakes on the drives.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a happy new year. P.S Joe Manchin is my hero.

Deilivered in Durham on the 21st had planned on dropping the truck off that morning to get brakes and drums on the drives, and have six new shocks installed, but that morning I stopped to get fuel in Wytheville , and when I turned the truck back on a check engine light popped up.

Looked up the code and it was a particulate matter sensor on the after treatment system. I called the dealer in Charlotte, and they said bring it in first thing on the 22nd and they would get me in to confirm the diagnosis. They got me in, and had me out of there on the same day by 1400. It was covered under warranty, parts and labor.

The brakes, drums, shocks, and a wheel seal were finished up yesterday. I had originally planned on staying home until after the new year, but an agent called me with an offer on a load that is paying $4.92 to the truck after LS cut, going from SC up to Michigan. It’s one of this agents biggest customers, and the load has to move, per the contract or the agent gets fined everyday it misses the delivery date. It’s usually about a four or five hour unload, but for that rate I don’t mine.
