Reading this & talking to a few drivers have really made me feel better about trying this. Going to give the short haul a shot, simply because I can be home every weekend. I've done the OTR 3 weeks out, promised the family I won't do that again. I'm not trying to get rich, I'm trying to make decent money and balance that with hometime. I appreciate everyone's honesty here, it does help a lot.

Still here at Dart and looking to get on a regional run soon to get some more hometime.
I've been averaging about $1k/wk take home after all expenses and that is after putting away .07/mile in addition to the maintenance account so it's closer to $1200 depending on the miles for that week. This month so far as been the best and I've got a few hundred extra on the last two settlements.
I don't really have any major complaints about their operation with the exception of their old trailers, which they are still ordering new ones and getting rid of the old ones. Some of them are from 1990's
They bumped OTR pay up to a full dollar starting July first. Yes I know that is still low compared to other companies but again I haven't seen any better LP deals out there as far as the lower lease payments and allowing us to settle when we want to. It's nice to be able to take a week off if I want and not have a negative balance waiting for me when I get back.
I'll respond to your other posts when I get a chance.
Safe Travels!

If you have questions too just feel free to ask on here or PM me.OPUS 7 Thanks this. -
But you know every time I've taken some short load that has too much time on it they have always followed it up with a better load and I have never been disrespected by anyone in any department at Dart. When I have come back saying a load was not run-able with the hours I have or what time they wanted it to be somewhere, they either acknowledged the mistake or rescheduled the appointment. I'm not saying everything is perfect but it's not a horrible place at all.
Good luck and keep us updated!

How much control do you have over the maint? The trucks are set at 63mph? Do have an option later to add a APU on it? Appreciate any info you may have on those questions.

How much a week is a good amount to set aside for taxes? Also, does Dart offer medical insurance?
Thanks! -
Im looking into Leasing with dart and the information in this post is awsome. I see some of you guys have familys at home, so like myself its mandatory that money goes home every week and it needs to be a certain amount. I would love to get into a lease, but thats my concern not being abke to send miney home. I need to send a minimum of 700 bucks home weekly to my wife. I also need medical for the family and thats one thing not really talked about here is the medical. My question to you guys who currently have a lease, do uou ever go a week without a paycheck, and is do theyboffer medical and if so is it any good as in the cost. Thanks guys.
