I love it at dart. My dispatcher is awesome and everyone I talk to is great. If I have to complain it'd be the trailers...
I started in June with l/p and I'm in a 2015 Cascadia which I love company drivers get insurance l/p don't but they do offer it to us.

I see DART advertising alot down here in San Antonio TX. They appear to have short haul opportunities down here and claim you'll be "home most nights."

I've spoke to a recruiter but it was kind of confusing as he recruits for both company and l/p side.

My question is, for those of you who are l/p with DART us it possible to make money with the short haul routes? Additionally is there any truth to being able to be home "most nights?"

Hey unloaded, I've been with Dart since last June. Started out as regional & very quickly changed to short haul. I am very happy with them. I am home every weekend for 3-4 days with $1300-$1500 net pay. If you sign on, I'd suggest buying a volvo instead of the freightliner, the payments are cheaper & the fuel mileage is much better. If you pay attention to what your doing, you'll do very well. Hope this helps.

What short haul run do you have? I am in South Texas. How many miles do you turn per week with that kind of run? I am definitely interested in this as the oilfields are going to ####, and I need to maintain similar income without going full otr. Where did you go to orientation at?

Obviously you're a L/O or O/O with them and you're making $1300 to $1500 clear for 3 or 4 days work? That sounds too good to be true. I'm a wannabe and I see their ads posted for runs just north of me about 100 miles for home every day but kinda questioned it. I doubt I'd be leasing anywhere for a while until learned more about the job. I'd love to hear about the account you're on though. Thanks

They're advertising a $3K sign on bonus and first month payments for free... does anyone know anything about this, or is it marketing hype?

I've found that getting information about this company is hard. Especially the lease. The advertisement I saw in craigslist was talking about a short haul route that said you would only be out one or two nights a week.

I figured ######## on that right away, and the recruiter I spoke with (David McBride) point blank told me that's not true. So I appreciated that.

The first month "free" really isn't free, you just pay for that first month per week until it's paid off.

As for getting solid information on how much they pay per mile on the lease, I have yet to lock down that number. For otr guys I guess it is different than regional and short haul.

For me it was too much ambiguous information and I don't want to go all the way to orientation to find out the real deal on their lease purchase.

They do offer. 42-.44 cpm as a company driver with "weekly hometime" but the advertisement about that pay is also gimmicky.

Also the person who replied to my earlier questions and is claiming big numbers and 3-4 days at home has only four forum posts and doesn't seem all that credible.

I think it's safe to say if your going to go with them as a lease op try and talk to an actual driver at a truck stop because this forum is practically dead (with the exception of the training thread) and the recruiter I spoke with wasn't as forthcoming with the numbers you need to do proper research.

    Just my $. 02

When I there in 2011, there were 32 different contracts between the short haul, dedicated to a customer, super south, otr etc. They are very protective of their contract and you will not see it until they want you to sign it. I was told the lease operators are pretty much assigned a tractor, not allowed to choose. Look at thread of I'm baaaaacckkkk, one the ttr forum. Never heard a four letter cuss word in my 8 months with Dart. NOW. If you are on any fleet except short haul, they will not pay mty miles unless they dispatch them, and if you go home, miles from your last drop to your next pickup location are not paid.period. I had an instance where I del on Fri 50 miles se of my home, took next load 85 miles nw of home and because I went home, no paid mty miles. They had a guy from Green Bay WI that ran a triangle from Green Bay to MN, then back to Milwaukee, the dead head to Green Bay to reload, BUT on Fri, they would not dispatch him to Green Bay so he ate those miles every week. I would not advise or not tell someone to go to Dart. I may return also some day, BUT, it will be more on MY terms if I do.

Just numbers....I am OTR 1.00 loaded .91 empty.2800 to 3200 miles average. Lease with every I insurance and tax is 124 per day. Settlement is whenever you transflow. Monday thru Friday if transflow by 11 will be in account after midnight.I say 11 because sometimes transflow can take a few hours to get to them sometines a few minutes unless you use app on your phone then it's right away from what Ive been told... I do not use the app. I just upgraded to a new cascadia turned in volvo no surprises or charges.Only had 9 months but I unlike most wabt ti stay in new and under warranty. I'd rather spend a few hundred a week knowing I'm covered than make it have to save it all knowing that Iwill have repairs and in frame rebuild and downtime.Just my opinion and it works well for my peace of mind. Sorry I cant givevshort haul and dedicated numbers as all I know is what other drivers say. In court they call that hearsay.

I appreciate all the information posted in this thread. Based on this information, i have made the decision to move forward with a L/P and try out the short haul in the twin cities. Claim they can get me home on weekends and possibly during the week. Same deal as everyone else. I need to send x amount of $ to the house each week. We'll see how it goes.
