Flatbedding is a hard and dirty job that does not pay what it should for the effort required (At least here at Melton). Also Oversized loads here are very few and very far between. I have been here almost two years and have only had two oversize loads. Plus the oversize and hazmat pay is nothing to write home about.

Extremely High turnover rate. Not worth it. I work at Melton now and wish I could quit now but I want to save up a certain amount before I quit in December. Most drivers I meet have only been working here for a few months because Melton can't keep drivers to save their lives!

That should be a red flag to stay away from Melton or anywhere else that has a high turnover rate. Most Melton drivers I meet have only been here a few months. Classic sign of a high turnover rate. Run don't walk to a better opportunity.

Thanks for your replies. I am seeing the light. I want OTR and willing to do it with little to no Hometime. It's just not important to me at this point, But I don't want to be taken advantage of either. The driver dash cams are a turn off.Guess Ill keep looking

I'm looking forward to going! I would rather go instead of not going and missing an awesome opportunity. it seems like They have many million milers and that doesn't just come from being a terrible company. There is good and bad in all companies so I'm sure there will be good days and bad days! But overall from what I heard from many melton drivers, It's a great company to start with and stay with if you so choose! I don't discredit and bad experiences because they are real, but I also don't want to discredit the good because of the bad I've heard either. That would be absurd! Thanks guys for all of your input!

Just because they have many million milers doesn't mean the good out weighs the bad, talked to a half dozen of them and a few are looking to get out they're also getting tired of the bs some of them also happen to be 2 million milers at that, the only reason they're not leaving is because they don't want to start over and after 10 20 yrs I can't blame them. But if they didn't have thenough time in they would be gone. Just something good to mull over.

Thanks T I will definitely consider all of these things before going! I appreciate the honesty brother! I'll keep all updated on it when I actually go to truck driving school!

Hey T. Hooghouse, did you end up turning your keys in last week. I'm curious to know what the process is like and if you ended up flying or driving home. Also, did you turn the truck in at Tulsa or Laredo?
