I had a less than pleasant experience at the Troutville/Roanoke TA regarding reserved parking and I decided I'd put my complaint up on Twitter. Half a day later I got a response from TA (via Twitter) that they were forwarding my message to the site location. I'm pretty sure that's about as far as my complaint will go. They don't really have a way to contact me anyway....

Next time I need to buy zip ties though, I'm checking the expiration date on the package! ;)

You know sometimes its ok to cuss as somebody specially somebody that comes off ####y like the cashier chick. Im not saying go off on her but calmly and respectfully tell her to shove the zip ties in her axx and walk away. Hijackin the thread for a minute I bought a car thru lobell financial and 3grand in they lost my payment. Check showed cashed out but they insisted I was in default then I crashed it in that same month drove home and got repoed the next day crashed. I had already given my deductible and was going to the body shop that same day. Lobell says car is crashed I said yea I know take it to the bodyshop since u took it already. 2 weeks later car is ready but they wont release it they want me to pay 1k for missing payment they claim never got plus penalties aaaand 3grand for the bodyshop this is were it got ugly. I was calm said no no the car was still mine when I wrecked with full cover u lost the payment and repoed it the car still has full cover this month cuz I just paid it so no. Guy goes I guess we are going to put it on your credit then I said how about I call The better bussiness bureau of California and see what they think of your bussiness practices? I was loud and threw out a couple cusswords but so did he I said keep the fn car this aint over I hung up and called them. 1 month later I got 3500 dollars back in a check and never will I do bussiness with Lobell Financial.

I can't even remember the last time I was in a TA,...or a Pilot...or especially a Loves. I spend my dollars at mom n pops, independents and on momma. Good for you on writing a letter. I'm old school in some ways. No GPS, no tv. Is a Blackberry old school? I think it qualifies compared to all the new phones in which one can watch all the Bandit movies back to back.

I see nothing about providing a phone number. I have declined to provide my phone number for several reasons....and that's exactly what I say. No. It pays to be ahead of the curve when you confront a business with a return. They just lost money. They give away nothing. You are the enemy. Know their rules and call them on it.

Truck stops lose money every day in stolen merchandise, be it known through found open packaging or unknown through theft which they discover later when inventory is done. Defective merchandise that can be returned often gets sent back to the manufacturer for credit or a refund. The store sends it back to their main distribution warehouse, and then the warehouse takes it from there. Some items cannot be returned and is simply written off, like plastic zip ties I would imagine. Every store has an allocated amount or percentage that is going to be written off every year, it's part of their budget.

I've only returned one thing at TA before and that was a pair of portable speakers where one stopped working, so since it was within 30 days and I had my receipt, I did an even exchange for another one. (and they work great)

If she wants to sue the OP, she can contact TA, and they can get his name off of the complaint they never responded to.

I remember one time I pulled into the TA at Manada hill, and had teenaged lot lizards beating on my door before I got parked. I shooed them off, grabbed my stuff to get a shower, when I saw the on duty manager, I mentioned the very young (15-16) lot lizards. His reply ?

    'Hey, we're not prudes here....'

This slug is one reason I usually don't bother filing compaints like this at a truck stop. I just call the cops. Maybe if they drag some underaged hooker out of a sleeper, and the driver gets arrested,too....and it ends up in the local news, they'll reconsider being 'prudes' or not.

I worked in claims at Wal-Mart. If TA claims works similarly, claims fell into three categories, markdowns, vendor credits and reclamations. It all depended on the manufacturer. Most food items were markdowns. Those were written off and disposed of. Vendor credits were either returned to the local vendor (name brand milk, name brand sodas, alcohol for example) and a credit issued by the salesman or we disposed of them and filed a claim against the vendor when they were classified as a vendor item and it was delivered on our trucks from the DC. Reclamations are sent back to the DC and the store issued a credit.
