LOL. Sounds like a typical day of trucking? I don't understand the issue. Don't like sitting around for free? Quit, and do something else.

    Hurry up and wait driver.

So what did you think about Toomanybikes' post? Does it seem plausible that they porked you guys for free? They don't do everyone like this...just select drivers. How did they know that they could do this to your truck? Well, your lead has been stuck so many times he doesn't even tense up. In fact, he's telling you to relax. Do you know the difference between a street Walker and a sslut? One of them gets paid.

Have you ever blown up a phone line, overloaded an answering machine, sent a hundred emails, overload the Qualcomm, and raised holy hell with anyone who dares to answer the phone? You only have to do it once. They will know to look for an easier lay, like your buddy...he doesn't even offer resistance. The easy ones get done twice as much.

Oh, but these things happen...it's part of trucking

I am sure they do happen. The thing is, it's not my fault and I want to be compensated for my time. You lived up to your end...you were where you were supposed to be when you were supposed to be there, correct? Then someone needs to be going into their pockets.

Update and warning (long, whiny can someone give me advice post)

This morning we get to the shipper only to find out they have no idea what load my dispatcher is talking about. Again. I am told to sit idly by and wait. In a frenzy I wake up my lead so he can find out what's going on because dispatch won't tell me ####. Lead wakes up and dispatch tells us to just take our empty. We drive aimlessly. Then he calls with a supposed load in Alabama. We try, but the load deadline is too early for us to get there in time. So now apparently if I want full pay for this trip I have to sit like a duck for a third day in a row.

I am beyond frustrated atm. I agreed to a 4 day trip and I am sitting here for the third day in a row with nothing to show (though I appreciate the experience, my lead is chill and patient)

Also. Information would be appreciated regarding my experience. I am sure this is typical with small companies. I am thinking I should join a legitimate big one. I started with CRST and quit after a month (pay was terrible for making me almost fall asleep at the wheel every night) I have a total of 7 months of experience but it is pretty spaced out within 4 years. I feel like I need a lead with my reverse parking problems etc. All that considering, I live in Rancho Cucamonga which is basically greater Fontana which is a huge trucking hub as is Riverside, etc. Any suggestions on companies that would consider me would be much appreciated! Us Xpress and Gordon both spoke to me enthusiastically but never responded when I tried to call them back

(perfect driving/criminal history record and I have my hazmat)

Whenever I start to feel like the BS is rising to intolerable levels, I sit back and look at my paycheck amounts for the last few weeks. Then I think about what those amounts would look like somewhere else. Then I realize that I'm fine where I am for now.

FWIW, things did pick up a little for me after I sent out an app to test the waters, and my company got an employment verification call.

First thing you need to find out before panicking and jumping off ship is how the company ends up compensating you. Maybe your lead is chill because he knows they will make good.

Then again maybe not. All I know there have been several times where I got screwed on load cancellations or loads not being ready etc where it affected my bottom line. More often than not things worked out compensation wise after things got sorted out.
