    Hey guys!

I just wanted to share this with you. My dad just added a 1999 Peterbilt 377 to his fleet, and it's going to be my truck. It's going to haul heavy equipment, maybe some flat bed freight, and dry van freight when equipment slows down. He currently has two lowboys and a flat bed, and is looking to buy a 3rd lowboy specifically for this truck.

It has a C12 430HP Caterpillar engine and a 13 speed transmission. I drove it home from the guy he bought it from and I really liked it! I've never driven a Pete before, but this one rode very nice. Power was great, shifted smooth, clutch was perfect. Even the driver's seat is comfortable as hell! The motor only has 130,000 miles on it and has 2 years of warranty left on it. Not a leak in sight! Truck was checked out by our shop and they couldn't find one thing wrong with it. It does need some TLC and over the next few weeks, it'll be getting it! I'll post pictures and updates as things go along.. Anyways, just wanted to share this with you guys. Hope you like it! I know it ain't a 379, but it'll get the job done. :)

    Pics!

In great shape for a 99. I see you have Michigan plates on it. Frame looks very good if it lived in MI it's whole life, unless it wasn't worked during winter. Should be a good unit. C12 is enough for hauling over 80,000?

I am also amazed by the shape it's in for its age. If the odometer is correct, then it has 1,087,000 miles on it originally.

I believe this truck has been in Michigan most of its life. I would have to ask my dad about that. I believe this truck has been parked since March since the calendar on the dashboard is still on March.

This truck probably won't be over 80,000 too often, but it should do the job. I'm guessing the most it will ever gross is 90-95,000lbs. Anything bigger and I will use my dad's truck if I have to do that particular job.

My first few loads with it will probably be paper in dry vans, which gross anywhere from 75-80,000, so I will see how she does loaded up like that!

Looks good, I believe Steelcase out of Grand Rapids had fleets of those 377's in that same color. If that's one of them it's had a fairly easy life.

My my my my BEAUOOOTIFUL KITTY.

Those clamps will need replacing just to be safe. They are not that expensive. Im looking at the exhaust side of the turbo and that one clamp looks rusted in place. Your Alternator... maybe check the physical condition of the wiring itself coming and to that thing. The harness sometimes hold moister and rust.

You seem to have a few more zip ties all over those hoses on that frame rail. Maybe a effort to keep everything organized? I hope that stays that way. Some of those hose connections are a touch rusted. But if it is just cosmetic then I don't have a problem.

Im looking at the plastic coolant tank? to the left side of the picture? Or is that a DEF tank? Coolant tank should be at or near the radiator on the Petes.

The one shock in the picture looks good, but the fuel filters possibly have some miles on them perhaps maybe Im wrong. Im also seeing the steering column above the universal joint where the blue is painted not too much grease. Perhaps a dab of grease gun in there?

Your dash did not contain the large number of toggles Im used to having on a pete

Enjoy your new rig. I like it alot.

Yes, that's exactly what it was! I forgot to mention that.

Thank you for the kind words! That plastic tank you're talking about is washer fluid. No def on this baby, she's emission free!

This truck will also be 100% fully serviced before I get in it. All filters, engine oil, trans oil and both differentials. The shop we go to, the owner and my dad are best friends. And he knows his trucks, he's been in the business of repairing for 35+ years. He'll definitely not let this girl go out until everything is perfect!

In the next few weeks, a power take off will be installed, all aluminum polished, all the servicing I mentioned above will be done, and I'll be adding some shiny things and touching it up cosmetically and giving the inside a good douching and replacing the steering wheel, gauge extenders and moving a few gauges around!

The fifth wheel is also going to get rebuilt.

My dad's buddy bought this truck from steel case, but as you can see even then it was never beaten on.

I think before anything hit that cab with lysol, bleach and so forth. You want to eradicate any possible traces of blood carriers, skin trash, bugs, infectious waste and sexual and sweat emissions out of there. Humans are particularly hard on bunks and sleepers.

Any idea your plans for paint? That thing looks well taken care of but perhaps it's been in weather a time or two.
