Nope setting at the fuel stop for the morning. They are running behind tonight. Took over 2 hours just to drop this trailer. Trucks lined up to the street just to get to the guard shack.

Neely's Landing.....ahhhh yes...a good old fashioned cluster you-know-what....you have to go in there with an almost full time clock if you want to actually get somewhere after dropping/picking there..... took me 2 hours to get in and find my load wasnt ready till the following day and then an hour to get out again only to be told to give my empty to another driver who was going home....fun fun fun....

I guess then I am not the only one who has seen HTLND trucks in places they never used to be.....are they getting the freight that was previously brokered by GTI?? I was passed by a HTLND truck on ice out by Richland on 70 as if I was standing still.

One thing I always keep in mind when descending these lovely lovely hills out here (just came down Alpowa Summit an US12 for my first foray into Lewiston) is that you can go down them too slow a million times, but you will only go down them too fast one time.

    tow614 Thanks this.

This time of year service failures are the norm..due to bad weather and trucks getting stuck all over the place..

As for the heartland trucks I believe we are just now paying attention to them and that is why we think we see more of them.

We are sharing freight but we are also getting their freight.. I was offered a heartland load for a customer I had never done before.. saw a heartland truck pulling a gti trailer and vice versa again.

Had couple more heartland drivers wave and a couple checking out my truck.. I detect truck envy for sure..

I saw a Heartland Driver and a GTI driver chatting at the Pilot in St George UT while I was stopped waiting for the gorge to reopen...

There are some shippers (i know Anheuser Busch in Ft Collins is one) that will not allow different company names to pull different company trailers.....Crete drivers who had the Shaffer trucks had that problem often, and Crete has owned Shaffer since the 70's!!

    The Challenger Thanks this.

Trust me it was fun at neelys landing for sure. Didn't get out the there untill 1600. Oh well should be 4 or 5 hours detention time for it so not all a lose. It takes about 15 minutes for one truck to get thru the guard shack

EverTrucker mentioned this a couple of years ago. He had a Blue Shaffer Century and actually drove for Crete and went to p/u there. A Shaffer driver had to go in and get his load.

Speaking of Crete/Shaffer I wonder if Heartland/GTI will do the same as them. Now all Heartland needs to do is buy a flatbed outfit. Sorry to get off track Joe.

Well..I am stuck at the yard in denver...

Picked up my preplan here and the thoughtful driver that dropped it left it with a bald tire..

Now I get to wait until morning to get it fixed....

Bet heartland wouldn't allow this to happen....:biggrin_25525:
