And unfortunately, most of us newer/younger drivers who actually care about and take pride in their jobs, are just assumed to be like the rest of them.

Well, my short association with Gordon Trucking has come to an end, I will head to Pontoon Beach tomorrow to clear out the truck.

So, I dropped my truck off on Sunday (my Birthday) to have the APU worked on. I receive a call as I am getting ready to head to dinner with my wife and get a call from the shop in Pontoon Beach and they ask me if I "am still in the area"I say no and ask what is the problem....well they said that they needed to move stuff off the bunk (a TV and some blankets and pillows) and the tech didn't want to have the liability....I told them to go ahead and move them, and I ridiculously presume there would be no further problem, right? Wrong. I call this morning (expectations are never too high with Pontoon Beach service) and speak to the "Service Writer"and tells me that they haven't even touched as they will not until I "clean my truck". He then proceeds to lie through his teeth that they supposedly told me BEFORE I left Pontoon to clean my truck out and that a "higher up"overrode them....again bald face lies. I get a call from Travis Gordon no less who then proceeds to say that he knows nothing of telling them to override that.....also that my truck is a "disaster area", ok fine....I accept my truck is by no means the best.....but this "service writer"absolutely lied through his teeth about and to me. I cannot and will not stand for that....because of his nonsense it would lead to more delays and no pay. Every time I have dealt with the Pontoon Beach shop there have been delay after delay after delay. I can sit at home for nothing....so I am done done done with this cra@.

Oh and just the icing on the cake when I am done with those clowns I get a call from my Dr. office telling me I have been carrying around an Avulsion Fracture in my ankle for the past 4 months....lovely.

Wow. That's a tough story to read. Makes me ponder my own truck cleanliness-related future carefully.

So, my possible choices for a new start are these: A return to Crete (on the Shaffer side), Holland Enterprises out of Fargo ND, Earl L Henderson out of Salem IL and Ozark out of Memphis....

I've never liked how drivers pull into parking spaces head first. They then have to back out into traffic when their break is done but they can't see a darned thing. Well, I watched one a couple of days ago pull head-first into a parking space early in the day. The place was medium size and I just knew this guy was going to have a problem once it started to fill up. Later that evening, he started backing out. And h learns that in the hours since he'd pulled straight in - not through, mind you - other "professional drivers" had occupied every snow-covered space available and many had gone to sleep.

This guy gets about 5 feet out in reverse, puts on his brakes then sets the parking brake. He walks to the back of his truck and surveys the scenery in the very cold dark. Sitting where I was, I knew he was not going to be happy to discover that his break was going to be longer than he originally wanted because HE. WAS. TOTALLY. BLOCKED IN.

I wonder if he will do that again. Sure, backing into tight truck stops can be a challenging pain, but he now knows the pitfalls of driving straight into a parking space.

I have finished my first week out with my new job.. I am not going to put dates and locations anymore for security reasons but.. my first trip was 800+ miles second 225.. third 1800+ and now have a 2100 mile trip that will use up every minute I have to finish it...
    not a bad start...

I received a phone call from a manager a few weeks ago with guidance similar to that...
