Never checked into them so would be interested to hear more as you get to know the new folks and how they actually operate. -
I will be starting a new thread documenting my new adventures although I did try that before and didn't keep it up!

By the way, I learned that Grand Rapids, near where I live, has had the second highest snowfall of any city this year...110 inches. So far. That's just under ten FEET of snow.
Will I even be able to find my house when I go home? That is the question. -
Actually Victors thread was an excellent thread, and i don't doubt that's exactly what happened to him.
But we (i ) know what was going on with him and why some of that was happening to him.
But i said it before, you can take 2 people same company -even same terminal, and you will get 2 different outcomes.
Now on that note, i would give victor a couple of bucks to do a pre trip on a truck if i wanted it checked out real well, and the brakes adjusted -it might take a couple of hours, but i would be safe and legal LOL -- Am getting a little worried though -no sign of Victor anywhere.chowick1966 Thanks this. -

That is what I have always said. As long as you can come at things objectively then you can get a balanced view of how a company treats its driver. You DO get an awful lot of whining especially when someone has a particular axe to grind. I have always tried to be as objective and consistent with my posts and I have been posting here now since 2008."Hang - Man" and tow614 Thank this. -
Heartofatrucker.... I could have sworn you said you were not a heartland employee...
oh well... no matter....
as for me I was willing to give it a chance but it came down to money. As to who is responsible for dropping the ball and allowing my income to drop the way it did is difficult to say.. I have my own suspicions and don't believe any type of conspiracy was at hand.. just incompetence and could not see a way too remedy it. I found my concerns were falling on deaf ears and it seemed everyone was preoccupied with their own concerns.
as to the w-2 issue though I can truly say that I spoke with many heartland drivers over the last months and never found a single one who made close to what I did. Those who had been with heartland awhile said the high w2's touted were.from the days before elogs when your drivers consistently ran illegal but since elogs it has been difficult to duplicate.
out of all the heartland drivers I interviewed only "1" said he was happy. He had been with you 12 years and had very encouraging things to say. However he was another one who told me he doubted I could ever make an annual salary equal to what I made with gordon.
all that being said you must understand it was a very difficult decision. I sacrificed a lot by leaving. 5 years service meant 3 weeks paid vacation in excess of $3k. But I could not stand by and allow my monthly income to continue the way it was..
all is good now.. I am in a good place.. running the lanes I enjoy running and getting home more frequently with a company that truly believes 1 day for every 7 out is not quality hometime.
I appreciated my time at gordon and wish them well. For all the drivers who stay I wish well but to be honest. Every driver I know who is still at gordon are looking elsewhere except maybe denalidad... he is an old hippie who is just along for the ride....lol .. sorry dd...GreyHound Thanks this. -
