Nobody asked you what you were interested in. Don't start dictating the conversation. Thank you. Now to answer your question, GTI runs into California. A lot. The APU keeps the batteries charged, and also appliances or C-Pap machines drivers may have. In anti-idle states, no matter the temperature, we can legally stay comfortable, ensuring proper rest for DOT breaks.

My question to companies who do not provide APU's how they deal with a driver who is issued a ticket in an anti idle state?? And it CAN happen, regardless of how rare it is....especially on the Thruways, Tollways etc....

Some time ago, I think you asked is what we think of you being here. Here's my opinion, for what it's worth.

Normally, I don't care what comments are made, as long as they are civil, on topic, not personal attacks or hate-oriented, and don't try to hijack an OP's thread. This forum was started to describe about one person's experience with GORDON TRUCKING. It's not a place to compare and contrast the two operations, to correct any 'misunderstanding' we might have, to try to make us appreciate our new owner, to explain their policies, or to give you feedback of any kind. I really doubt an office employee at Heartland Express can offer much otherwise. That kind of post seems like an attempt to hijack the thread and I seriously doubt you have a willing audience for that. I know I don't care about what you say; I don't know who you are and I cannot nor do I care to validate your statements about the goings on at our new owner.

You are, quite simply, a distraction from the original purpose of his thread.

You might actually know what you're talking about. If that is the case, may I recommend starting your own thread? That way, you can clear up misunderstandings and confusion, and sell your company as you wish. Those who are interested will read. Those who aren't, won't.

    Wow !!!!!!

I really feel the love in here right now.....:3some:

I no longer have a dog in the Gordon/Heartland fight but my advice for Heartofatrucker would be stop
disguising your identity and be upfront as to who you are and state your purpose.

If you have helpful information for joseph and the other gti drivers here let them know. Even bad news
    would be respected.

But no more news like purchasing 1000 more trailers... who cares....really!!!

One of the best things I can say about my leaving is that my days are no longer filled with the stress of
worrying about what and when change is going to come... good news or bad news.. it was maddening
and it made every day horrible. I hated getting up in the morning..I hated my next load assignment..if I had a dog I would have kicked him... I think you get my drift...I was in a bad place..:banghead:
I came to a point that if I were getting fuel and a Heartland truck pulled along side me I fantasized about setting his truck on fire...:violent3:

I am much better now... lol ... don't worry. ...:biggrin_25526:

myself.. I would have rather from day one.. Heartland issued a timetable of events so I would have had some confidence in the direction of my future.. instead all we get is rumors..

I'm with tow on this one. This is the one serious problem I have...there is no official communication to GTI drivers from the HTLD front office. Nothing about a timetable. Nothing about addressing concerns. Nothing about how to VOICE those concerns. Nothing about...well, anything. Silence, which in the case of a major merger like this, is anything but golden.

I've been through two airline mergers and can tell you that communication is king. Pilots and drivers are very similar in many respects; we're pretty simple people with pretty simple needs. Keep the airplane or truck running the way it should be and kill off rumors as they sprout. Do it by using effective communications with the drivers from the front office, not by teleconferences that a dozen people (out of thousands) attend. And do not send a spy to us to feel things out and be a cheerleader.

We get QC messages about out own leaders leaving the company. Why aren't we hearing from Heartland executives explaining what they're doing and going to do and how it will affect the 2,000 GTI drivers? I wish I knew.

I wish I would hear from them. It's the only way to build trust, which at this point is in very short supply.

The QC messages about support personnel leaving has to be disheartening...

when this all went down there were several support personnel telling me how great this was going to be and I had nothing to worry about... one of them left last friday but I knew he was leaving when I turned my truck in...

I won't say anymore about our conversation but there was no more effort being made to bs me from anyone at the indy terminal. They were a gloomy bunch I will say...

I went though a similar situation with another trucking company in 2005. When the new president :a former jevic reject :came in, he began telling us all the new changes he was going to be implementing and then asked for comments. Being the big mouth that I am I stated that he was going to screw up a great company. 2 weeks later I left after he took away all our dedicated routes and had us running brokered freight. Support personnel told me I was making a mistake. 6 months later and the company went under and no longer exists...

As has been said before, GTI executives are running GTI and will continue to do so. That is where communication will come from, though anyone at Heartland is accessable to answer any questions. Steve and Scott Gordon have joined the overall management team and are continuing to operate GTI. Larry and Virginia Gordon have retired after 50 years, and Larry Gordon has joined Heartland's Board of Directors to help guide the organization going forward. There is no big 'what are they going to do', they are going to continue to build the company as they have been doing. The $150 million in debt that GTI had before has now been paid off by Heartland. Heartland is helping GTI to replace its older equipment, starting with the 1,000 trailers. GTI is still purchasing new trucks (blue with GTI on the side). All the same lines of business are going to continue as they have been, including the TC division. Heartland is bringing some new additional freight to the TC division. Is everything going to stay exactly the same? Of course not, and it wouldn't have even without the merge. Customer demand is very strong right now. Both GTI and Heartland have so many load offers that they are turning down about 4,000 loads per week. And that is even with both GTI and Heartland both increasing drivers employed since the acquisition and also since the first of the year. There, my 'cheerleading' is done. I think I've been pretty forthright in my information and where I work, etc. If you don't want me to post on your thread going forward, I won't.
