Hey heartofatrucker.... a suggestion..
Since you guys believe that when you are finished with the takeover that things will be better then perhaps you should offer some sort of reinstatement policy for ex gti drivers. Allow them to return should they desire and have all seniority and benefits ie vacation and vacation pay restored as if they never left. Allow up to 2 years to return.
not saying I am interested but there may be those down the road that may...HeartofaTrucker and DenaliDad Thank this. -
No disrespect to those who have made the decision to make a change, but there really hasn't been very many people leave GTI since the acquisition, though no one wants to see a single person quit, and I'm disappointed to see the folks on here who have left (I'm hoping to see you 'Back in Blue' someday). They have been growing in both drivers and freight every week since the acquisition. Many see the positives. The Gordons have continued to take delivery of 400 brand new blue GTI trucks (equipped with same specs) to grow the GTI business.

Heartofatrucker...
the first step on the road to recovery is to accept the truth....
I was given access to info about drivers leaving gti by more than one source and the numbers were high: especially the number of drivers with 5 or more years with gti.. I am very confident in that information.
those of us on this site represent only a spec of the sum of drivers at gordon. At the end of the day we will not have any impact on day to day operations but your continued presence here makes me wonder why so much interest in such a few drivers... -
Why wouldn't I?
Every one of us does make a difference. -
Driver reputation. TTR is a group of drivers who run the gamut. Here you found the people happy with GTI. And tow, they knew (GTI) who we were. They've come to me to tell me they read our thread. Trust me when I say this was mentioned. I was told today that they didn't want to lose me because I'm "money" I'm being given a .03/mile raise to go back. Plus the miles. Why would I turn that down for getting down to lathrop to have my load taken to run to Tracy for 12 miles for 28 hours. That's the heartland way. And that's not my way.
Dinomite Thanks this. -
They obviously have respect for you as someone who can be counted on.
tow614 Thanks this. -
You know, you can wrap things up anyway you want to. As far as I am concerned the facts are that things HAVE gone downhill since the buyout. My miles were inconsistent and maintenance is a joke insofar as time. THREE times I had maintenance issues last for several days when they needn't have.
"No disrespect to those who have made the decision to make a change, but there really hasn't been very many people leave GTI since the acquisition, though no one wants to see a single person quit, and I'm disappointed to see the folks on here who have left"- I'm still wondering exactly what the numbers are.....and what experience lever are those who have been replaced are? What is Heartland's turnover rate.
Also I would be interested in Heartofatruckers response to this little nugget from HTLND 2012 Annual Report (given that negotiations may well have been starting when it was published....)
We may not make acquisitions in the future, or if we do, we may not be successful in integrating the acquired company,
either of which could have a materially adverse effect on our business.
Historically, acquisitions have been a part of our growth. There is no assurance that we will be successful in identifying, negotiating,
or consummating any future acquisitions. If we fail to make any future acquisitions, our growth rate could be materially and
adversely affected. Any acquisitions we undertake could involve the dilutive issuance of equity securities, incurring indebtedness,
and/or incurring large one-time expenses. In addition, acquisitions involve numerous risks, including difficulties in assimilating
the acquired company's operations, the diversion of our management's attention from other business concerns, risks of entering
into markets in which we have had no or only limited direct experience, and the potential loss of customers, key employees, and
drivers of the acquired company, all of which could have a materially adverse effect on our business and operating results. If we
make acquisitions in the future, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to successfully integrate the acquired companies or assets
into our business. " (my italics and bold)
Quite an interesting passage....joseph1135 Thanks this. -
Great post chowic....
while I wish no ill to heartland and honestly do hope they are successful I believe there will continue to be problems until they come clean with their drivers.
there was a.growing disconnect between gti drivers and support personnel due to the uncertainty of the future of gti terminals. I witnessed it myself and could see that people who were once very reliable really didn't seem to care anymore. Key people were being replaced with very inadequate people and it was very frustrating. This is what I believe led to my demise.
when I tried to voice my concerns nobody seemed to care. -
Sad to see what has happened to the lot of you. It is pretty amazing how things have changed for the worse. I wonder how long DD will last since he just got started. The good thing is everybody has found good jobs after leaving. I do believe you guys need to start another thread with the after life of GTI drivers. It has been fun keeping up with you guys. Good luck to you Joseph.
I started a thread about my adventures the last time I was sitting in Anchorage and you can see some pictures as well. I was hoping to find some other guys that run North, but by the looks that is all old school trucking up there without TTR.
