LOL Finally heard that guy on the radio a couple of weeks back while waiting @ a shipper.
I usually have the wife come pick me up and we get real food if the shipper is going to be a while.
I had one shipper get real miffed when I said I was eating and would get back to the truck in 30 minutes.
Shipper got huffy and wanted to spin me to the back of the line.
I called dispatch and said I would not haul the load. Broker called them and told them to load my truck or loose the account.....
My new home town.... A real Love hate relationship
Finally got loaded. OMW catch you folks later

Everybody must be busy. Not posting much lately.
Just updating my miles a bit.
Last Thursday 10/31 I had been out 3 weeks. For that time I had 9391 miles.
When you consider I was down 2 days sick and another day getting my truck fixed after hitting that deer.. not bad.
The load I have now I picked up in casa grande, az and going back to ohio is another 1976 which I will deliver tuesday.
Would have delivered sooner but I have been running on short hours and getting good hours dropping off now for the next few days.
That will make me 11, 367 miles with 2 more days before fourth week. I am staying out 5 weeks this time again.
Going to take some vacation Christmas. . -
I have read where some people have questioned why some of us post our miles on here.
It is not to be bragging or anything; but is intended to give an example of what can be done out here.
I don't consider myself special in any way nor do I consider myself a better driver than anyone else.
I simply try to be consistent.
Much has been made about the scales being slanted against newbies but I don't see it that way. I see newbies out here that run circles around me and are doing quite well.
I believe individual abilities and effort plays big into your success or failure at whatever you do. Ones level of education does not always guarantee success if common sense is left out.
The system here at Gordon does not take long to figure out and once the planners see you are someone they can depend on to deliver ontime they begin to use you more. Thus improving your ability.
Learning this job or honing your skills greatly improves your worth and income. As it is said.. you can cut wood with a dull axe but you can cut a whole lot more if it has been sharpened. -
Come on now, Officer tow. As CougFan said, your DM controls your loads and roads and therefore your profitability, if I recall his comment. Posting your miles is good. But you and joseph are not exemplars for 2000 Gordon drivers, far from it. You both may be good 'role models', nonetheless.
Is Gordon above 'salting the sand'? I think not. -
Actually the DM does not control the loads nor do they select your loads. This is all done by the load planners.
When I am nearing completion of a run:if I dont already have a preplan: I contact my DM and ask about a preplan.
She will then send a message to the planners asking why I dont have a load yet and usually get one soon after.
Sometimes I find it is because of a glitch and my pta was entered wrong and the planner did not realize I was going to be available.
Communication is the key. Proper eta/pta messages are essential to being planned. But you still have to stay on top of things.
Granted I have been here awhile and I like it when I call and someone other than my DM answers but still recognizes my voice and knows my truck number without me telling them.
Joseph and I are not special or rare examples. I talk to many drivers here who are doing as well if not better than myself.
The thing is you don't run into these guys at the drivers lounge moaning and complaining. They don't have time for that. Usually they are in and out like a flash unless their trucks are down.
But they are there. -
You and joseph are 2/2000, tow. And both very active TTR-ers. Got 1900 plus others too busy to chime in. With GreyHound, TrePutt and bak coming online, maybe more Gordon experience coming in the near. But I do not expect Gordon above salting the sand.
Salting sand = adding gold flakes to a sample to boost sample's 'apparent' value
But posting your miles and runs is good. I like that.
Gordon Indy was amazing at knowing driver names right off the bat. I volunteer at a local non-profit in Bloomington and they wanted professional pics of me doing my volunteering last week. The Director introduced me to the photographer, says, "And your name is... " I said, "Same as it was last week when I was here." Pregnant silence. "But I don't know it... " Never happened at Gordon Indy. Whenever I walked in they knew my name.
/Every week I take care of their worm bins. : 0) I'm the 'worm guy'. : 0)tow614 Thanks this. -
Worm guy...
-
I would say that out of the 1900 plus others that they don't know this site exists.
I didn't until a few months ago and I just like doing this for some reason.
Some talk on CB's... I don't turn mine on..
