Bottom line. .. show me the money...
How many Heartland drivers can come on here and truly say they make 60k a year..
I'll make it easy.. 50k a year..
I dont care how much you pay per mile if I am sitting in truck stops.
If I am going to average less than 3k a week then I am gone....
I can drive for plenty of those 2k a week companies and be home 2 to 3 days a week.
And I consider heartland the same as knight or celadon or covenant. .. etc... -
Holy Crap! All I can say is thank you providence for working things out so that I left when I did for what I did. I knew that there was something in the wind, just no idea that it was something this big!!!
Victor_V Thanks this. -
To me this merger does not bode well.
Was never impressed by Heartland.
Do you folks think Heartland will actually try to grow the TC fleet? Use this as a way to get into that arena? -
I think I speak for some when I say that Heartland is in a different level than Covenant and Knight.

Honestly, I think they will keep the TC fleet. Having a TC fleet allows them to offer more services to the big companies like wal mart, fred meyer, costco, etc. Even Swift has a dedicated reefer fleet just for wal-mart. But I dont see them expanding it beyond what they would need to service the big three. My last 3 months at Gorden were all wal mart, fred meyer, and hersheys loads.

I have worked for covenant. . Considered and still considering working for knight...
Heartland I have considered but never thought of them as driver friendly..
Let me define driver friendly..
Apu.. power inverters... hometime.. pay.. vacation.. miles...
When a company puts a driver in a truck and refuses to install an apu for climate control then punish a driver for idling
Is not driver friendly..
I have worked with former heartland drivers who tell of extended stays at truck stops without loads..
Difficulty in getting home..
Average miles less than 2k a week
I put heartland in the class with covenant for that reason...
They may be profitable but at whose expense...
I am afraid this may turn me into agreeing more with victor against mega carriers in the future..
I am going home this week for hometime.. when I return I will be sleeping with one eye open..
I advised my dm I was taking most of my gear out of my truck while home in case I needed to make a quick departure. .The Challenger Thanks this. -
I hate to say this, but even as an ex-Gordon driver I wish this hadn't happened. It has to have left a lot of drivers and their families with some hard choices to face tonight.
