Is this the pay scale for this year?!?! Why are they advertising .45-.55 CPM for new students?
Are the weekly mileage run bad in the south east?

That is the most recent, new pay scale, but I'm not sure where you're getting the 45-55 cpm pay. They're pretty picky about who they hire, which is one reason for the higher pay. For specifics about miles in any area, I would call and ask them. The recruiters are pretty straightforward.

We-e-e-l-l-l, when I was asked after I left about the recruiter's (Bret) honesty, my answer was 50-50. Everything was 'no problem.' Ah-hemmmmm. The DMs and Bret even tried to deny that I had signed up for the mythical '5-and-5.' Bret did finally come around and admit. Hell, I had emails on it.
Everything, like home time was 'no problem.' Except it was. Repeatedly.
The real 'revealer,' though, is that Brian in Safety, had a desk out in the open and it was often his job to fire people, right there as you sat waiting, uncomfortable about the sensitive information being discussed right there out in the open. Bret's door was closed more than it was open. Top secret. Never made any promises (that I heard) while anyone else was within earshot.
So Gordon hired behind a closed door and fired out in the open.
Funny, if you ask me... -
Yup. We're all pretty clear on your feelings about your short time at Gordon.

reefertank Thanks this.

Gordon is a good next step for a driver who reaches the one-year ticket point or has some other reason (like I did) for choosing Gordon. In my case, I took an 18-month vacation from trucking and a lot of doors closed as a result. Gordon's was wide open and paid a nice sign-on bonus.
Five months later, it was easy to move on. And why not?
It would have been silly to stay and equally silly to go back. Each of the jobs I've had since--Haz outfit, Indiana to Prairie du Chien turns and my current gig pay significantly better than Gordon.
Could go back to any of them including Gordon.
A one-year ticket driver should be looking to move on to greener pastures upon attaining the two-year ticket with Gordon's help.
Thank 'em and move on.
Denali, with all due respect, had you not moved over to Gordon and, instead, stayed where you were, things would have been much better for you. The experience of the vast majority of drivers at Gordon was and is similar to mine because Gordon is a short-medium run carrier at the end of the day with tons of freight and tons of driver turnover. Gordon has more turnover in a week than any company I ever drove for. Ever. And I still get recruitment emails from the likes of Steve Gordon...
Nothing tempting about it. Too many hours, too little pay. -

If you want to continue bashing your former 5-month employer, you are free to do so somewhere else...say, on your own thread, for instance. Please stop doing so here on mine. -
I'm not 'bashing' Gordon, Denali. I speak from experience and seems like for every one who claims I'm a Gordon detractor, an equal number say I'm a supporter.
So I must be just about right...
