Does GTI (gordon) pay hub to hub or zip code to zip code? Also, do they pre-plan your gas stops? Meaning, do they make you drive out of the way twice a day to get 50 gallons of gas?
Thanks
My new experience with Gordon Trucking, post-buyout

My info is 2 years old. But they used to pay practical miles (Based off of PC miler I think).
Fuel stops are all preplanned, but none of them were an issue 99% of the time. -
Oh, man! I have been so enthralled with my new driving "experience" I've almost totally neglected my old thread! I haven't quite got new habit patterns since the recent GUI change to TTR, too. Thanks for helpin out, Coug!
The fuel stops worked well for me and when I needed something different for some reason, contact with my DM was always easy and painless. And the miles were practical, much closer to actual driving miles than my current gig. -
So they pay hub to hub miles and they don't make you stop every 200 miles to fill up 50 gallons of fuel?
-
Its not actualy hub miles, no.
The fuel stops will be along the way. -
I chose May Trucking Company over Gordon, and I misunderstood the recruiter or she twisted her words. Some things I already dislike off the bat is the zip-to-zip code miles. Another dislike is having to do 2 or 3 fuel stops, most of the time within 8 miles on route, a day. And then their are other little things that bother me with the company. Such as never going over 64 mph down hill, even though trucks are governed at 61, dipping tanks, etc. But the 2 biggest issues were zip miles and the fuel stops. My trainer wasted 2 hours of his time one day to take care of fuel stops. And the following day he was paid 30 miles short of the actual distance to drive from hub to hub. But it sounds like Gordon runs a similar, but not as bad, operation? Good to know, thanks.

Gordon has changed since the buyout. Many left right away and many more since. I still think they're one of the good companies, but the stage lengths are getting shorter. You'll see many more Godon trucks pulling Heartland trailers east of the Big Crick, too. But I would go back, if only for their equipment. It's getting harder to find good trucks anymore.

The mileage thing is an industry-wide problem. I've never gotten the miles I drove following the company's routing; it's always less than what comes with the preplan. I can't affect or control it, so I don't worry about it. There's enough other stress in my life and that's not one of those things in my "sphere of influence."

What's wrong with heartland? I just talked to a driver making 55cpm. Seems like a great company to work for starting off 42cpm after 9 months. Guess I'll have to do some digging.
