I idle if i am uncomfortable.

There was a time before apus when idling was your only choice.

Besides...the engines today are more fuel efficient and dont use nearly as much fuel while idling.

Dart actually advises their drivers to idle instead of putting apus on..

Well, my first 'week' actually started Wednesday and ended yesterday morning, so it's not much of a guide. I did stay busy moving, though, so that's a good thing.

Your son will have a time with a trainer (I'm not sure how much since I was hired as an experienced driver) then he'll be paired with another driver-trainee for thousands of miles. The few trainees in our joint sessions were told to pay close attention to their trainer because when they team with another trainee, they better know how to use the QC macros (they have some weird combinations and many more than Gordon used) and irritating your bunk mate by not knowing what you're doing can make for a long, long experience.

im glad Heartland bought out GTI. That is the Donald Trump company that will fire you for anything. (Late deliveries, taking over four days off.)

Im just about done with Gordon myself due to Heartland, Im just waitng on some things to work themselves out and then Im gone. Gordon is a decent company but ever since the buyout things have been slowly getting worse and worse.

First off if you are late to a delivery due to driver error that's your fault and do it enough you deserve what you get. You can take more than 4 days off assuming you are staying out long enough. I typically stay out for about 5-6 weeks and I always take 6-7 days off when I get home.

Hey Stew..would you go with Schneider over Gordon? I am booked to train with Schneider but the problem is they don't have any terminals close to where I live. Gordon has one that is much closer. I know I could ask Schneider if I can park close to home but I hear it's a huge risk since it's outside their terminal. I hear Gordon have pretty good trucks too.

I have no idea about Shneider, never worked there. Gordon is still an okay place to work at least until dec. 31st 2016 but after that the future of Gordon Trucking is unknown. I haul reefer and have a good dispatcher which helps. You will probably average 2400-3000 a week depending on which fleet you go with. Dry van seems to get more miles since they drop and hook a lot more while reefer you will get around 2500 miles a week due to sitting around more.

    Lightside Thanks this.

Thats still the rule but its not really enforced anymore. It also helps when you are liked by your dispatcher and the other guys in the office.
