I'm changing my residence and going local in chicagoin august when I hit two yrs. My dm is in denver and will still have her. If she ever left I would leave. Shes the only reason I'm still here. She is awesome.

They receive a financial bonus if you do come back. Unfortunately, no one, except a higher up in HR can sweeten (financially) the efforts of someone like Vickie to get a driver to come back.

This is one thing about the set cpm (based on years experience) payscale these companies employ that I don't like. It sort of removes the incentive factor for one driver to excel over another based on skill and effort.

Its like a cookie cutter approach.

Yep, she doesn't want me to leave. I'm one of her better drivers.

The less a DM has to babysit a driver, which the have to a lot when you have new drivers coming in, the easier there job is.

I asked a DM I had last year what the most frustrating thing about his job was. Without hesitating he told me it's when drivers get upset with him because they don't "have a load" and are sitting.

He said there is a misnomer that DM's are somehow able to put a dispatch on driver's at May. According to him they don't.

All a DM is, at May at least, is the driver's liaison to the company. That is pretty much it. They deal with the driver and help the driver to the best of their ability. Help with routing, fueling and such.
