My new truck needs an alignment? Or is it something else?

During my company driver years I drove five different trucks and hit the largest potholes known to man and never ever once needed an alignment. My new 2019 truck that I put 45k miles on needs one though? I only think so because the steering wheel feels sluggish at high speeds where you have to make micro adjustments to stay between the lines. When backing up the wheel turns normal so I'm thinking it's an alignment issue which I am having fixed in a bit. Its just weird that I never needed one before with the other trucks and now I'm being careful to dodge potholes or fast turns with my truck and this happens.

Could be. Or maybe instead of not giving a crap now you feel everything since it’s your own?

Yeah I thought that too but I respect all property even when it's not my own. The company I used to drive for sent me to shippers that had huge potholes near the dock doors so they were unavoidable. I returned all my trucks in perfect condition. My steering wheel used to be so easy to turn I could do so with one finger. Now I have to grip it and pull. I pulled it into the bay I hope that it is just an alignment since the dealer near my house is freakin packed 24/7 so I usually go out of town to fix it.

When I got my 2nd freight-liner it needed an alignment, I was a company driver but the truck only had 500 miles on it so basically new.

It needed another alignment about 100k miles in.

Yet I had another driver who had a new truck, perfect alignment from the factory.

    Luck of the draw.

Did the steering wheel feel harder to turn for you?

Check your country of build. Mexico has had issues in the past. Some severe enough to require a 3 axle.

Yeah I'm doing a 3 axle now just to put my mind at ease. Only an extra $100.

No, but that truck never did feel right.

I'd recommend taking it to Goodyear Commercial Tire & service Centers in Bunswick, OH.

Its the one by the Subaru dealership.

Their alignment guy is top notch, he was my first stop when I bought my first truck.

A bit expensive but this thing is as true as an arrow, even though it was in a minor accident. Hes been doing alignments for a very long time.

Dry 5th wheel? Doesn't sound like an alignment issue.

I spent thousands of dollars over the years getting my truck aligned on those fancy electronic pad style machines.

Not until I found a guy that uses the MD Alignment philosophy did it finally get done correctly.
