My next move: JB Hunt? Woodfield? Somewhere else?

I'm debating my next trucking move. JB Hunt is competing with Woodfield for the top of the list right now. I'd love your insights from working with either of these companies, or other companies you think might fit my bill. I'm looking for:
    • Great home time in NW Arkansas: A minimum of 2 days home per week.
    • About $1200/week bring-home, or better
    • Lanes that stay along interstates? I just don't love driving through the backroads of the Ozarks in a truck. This isn't a dealbreaker, but it's a consideration.
    • Ability to decide when I run. No forced overnights. No forced chaining (I'll just park if the roads are that bad.)
    • My last job was with a Top 20 Fleets small carrier where everyone knew my name and treated me well. I would go back if they could offer me the home time I want, but all their lanes run along I-80 and that's not where I live. Whether big or small, I'd like to feel like a person rather than just a number.
    • Ability to bring my ESA dog without hassle.
    • I'd rather not have a driver-facing camera or micromanagement from safety. Not a dealbreaker, but it is a consideration. What I do want from Safety is support about the fact that I've been off the road for a year and may do well with a brief refresher training.
I heard from one JB Hunt driver that he was scheduled 5 days on / 2 off, but he hustled to get his work done in 4 and was off 2.5-3 days a week. That sounds delightful. Do most JB Hunt drivers on a 5/2 schedule have this option?

I like the small company feel of Woodfield, but they're also 5.5 hours away and JB Hunt is practically next door. It feels like a tough choice between apples and oranges with these two.

Carter Express has a terminal in Paragould.
Don't know if it's good or not. Hauls auto parts.

One of my drivers left in august to work for jb hunt regional because they promised him great home time and $1300 per week guaranteed ...he called me back 2 months later and asked to take him back ...his actual check was around $700 and bunch of lies ( per him ) ...

Only in the trucking world can you put in a 14 hour day and not have it really count if that’s when you start your days off. Lol that “two days off every week“ is likely most of the time a 34 hour reset. Meaning the minute you get back to the yard or put that truck off duty the clock starts running until you’re driving for the company again. It really is only one day off plus a few hours.

Couple million drivers are ok with that. No problem for me; beats sitting in an office cubicle or factory.

I'm not one of those couple million. I'm looking for 2 days at home, minimum, every week. F*** Capitalism. God created me so the joys of life could be savored, not to work myself to death making a corporation money with no regard for my humanity.

I'm not opposed to an office job, if it paid as much as trucking does. I'm only coming back to trucking because of my current debts, not because I genuinely want to. I need a living wage. But I also need time at home with my lover once a week to do more than just eat and sleep.

    Coffey Thanks this.

Well sometimes you get the luck of the draw and you can get back to the yard early in the afternoon on Friday and then return on Monday assuming that’s how they set it up. Most of the time you’ll get back late Friday or even Saturday and they’ll still want you back Monday morning. That’s just how it is. Or in other cases they’ll get you home with the truck but it’s still the same amount of time usually. As a rule of thumb I would say about once per month you’ll get a full two days and two nights at home. The other three weeks? Like I said it’s in the evening plus a few hours.
Now most companies will let you stay out longer if you want, and take a third or fourth day. But you’re talking about staying out 3 to 4 weeks at a time to get that.

@Farmboi85 could you tell us if this is how the time off at Woodfield is on regional or regional plus accounts?
