The web site has O/O information on it. JD....did you buy your truck through Crete? Also, were you a company driver with Crete before you bought your truck? I was prehired to be a company driver with Crete last year, but some things came up and I couldn't do it at the time. They called me a few weeks ago and wanted to know if I was still interested in coming aboard. Have been throwing around the idea of becoming an owner operator for the last couple of years and this might be my opportunity. If I could get on a regional or dedicated gig, that would be the best. Unfortunately I live in MN and they only offer OTR in this area.
I posted that message because Crete's web site is once again showing O/O pay/benefits, and I was told that when Crete decides to start taking on O/Os again they would add that info back to their web site. So, since it was added back to the wed site I ASSuMEd they were starting the O/O program again. I will call Monday to verify one way or the other.
I was a company driver from '97-'00, then I did a regional/local gig form '00-'06. I went back to Crete in '06 as an O/O by buying the truck through them.
I called the recruiting department today, and Crete IS HIRING O/Os. They just haven't changed the voice message on the recruiting line.
Hi JD, Why did you purchase a new truck instead of a used truck and a lower payment? Warranty? Peace of mind? Its a tax right off anyway so its a wash? I can see both sides of the argument for new and used but wanted your opinion now you have several years as an O/O. If you purchase used then you would have a larger service/repair budget so you end up paying about the same for a used truck etc etc ? Thanks.
JD....I am curious as to what you consider net profit? Is that the salary you pay yourself, or are there still some deductions, (like truck payment, Insurance, taxes, etc.). Thanks.
#1 reason I'm a nonsmoker. If I had bought a used truck from Crete they would be the ones to chose which truck I got via "luck of the draw". I did not want to take the chance of getting a smoker truck. #2 "If you purchase used then you would have a larger service/repair budget so you end up paying about the same for a used truck etc etc ?" It ultimately comes down to personal preferance.
The only deduction left on the NET PROFIT is the money I set aside in an extra maintainance account. This is optional, but highly recommended.
Hey, thanks for all the insight. Crete driver company side here. Hey, just trying figure out why you refinanced. thanks zachary
