I have yet to get a ticket or get dinged for inspection (knock on wood) but the officers I've talked to at truck stops, restaurants, weren't the friendliest, probably because the last one i HAD to talk to on the grapevine in CA left a bad taste in my mouth!

DD, good post there driver.
Much better than the normal "Waaa, I didn't get a new truck. "Waaa, I deserve more money than the older drivers. Waaaa!!", we see here all too often. We "old guys" get accused of "being to harsh and negative" when we try to talk sense to the kids. It sure is nice to see a "newbie" who actally "Gets it".
BTW, re the "getting stopped" issue, I learned something at our Safety Meeting this morning that I hadn't realized. When you roll onto the scales they can punch up your company's scores with but a few keystrokes. If your company has a relatively high number your chances of being pulled over increase. -

Great post.
Btw on the cop issue. I havent been pulled in about six years, however the past two weeks i have had two level ones and a level three. All very respectful though. -
Trucking was designed for me
After researching everything about it even the negatives were not a big deal for me and I was right. Sorry but trucking to me is easy compared to my other jobs. In fact my problem is that I arrive at every location way too early haha. However I like doing that so I feel more relaxed knowing I am in the door and can sleep or whatever instead of being 5 hours away and hoping there is no traffic or other delays to prevent me from getting there. Once I overslept but my dispatcher called me a few minutes before my appt time so I just went to the guard shack and was able to check in without being late.
I like seeing new things and hate being stuck with the same people all of the time because once they get to know you that is when they start teasing and being rude so I like that I get to leave before it ever reaches that point. I feel like I am my own boss and the company just pays for my bills.
