My old 44 finally bit the dust. Anyone know where to find a good deal on a new one? Do they even make Galaxy 44's anymore?

It may be fixable. But yes, Galaxy still makes them. Call Chuck at the 126 on I-40 in Tennessee. He's very reasonable and is a GREAT tech. He's a honest straight up guy that won't do you wrong. Give him a call at 731-847-9296. His hours are M-F 8-5 and Saturday 8-12 CST. He can get the radio, mod it with whatever you want, send it to you in the mail. Tell him 007 sent you.

They DO NOT make dx44v anymore.
I Have seen used ones in the CB shops for around 150.

I would check on getting it repaired......they are tough radios.
I have a 44 that is really old and still going strong. One of the best sounding Galaxy radios i have owned.
The audio sounds better than my new 94HP.

They do make a 44HP but it seems the 55HP and 66HP are more available.
These are dual final radios verses the single final in the old 44v.

The new version of the 44 is as said, Galaxy DX44HP. A simple adjustment of the modulation inside and conversion to 11 meters (cb) and that radio will do a fine job and about 50w peak . Do not allow anyone to do anything more to it. It's not necessary and it will void the warranty. There's also a new DX47HP that is a similar radio but with 100w output.

    KB3MMX Thanks this.

opening the radio and converting it to 11 meter voids the warranty.

Sorry but simple conversion does not void the warranty. Cutting limiters, super hack packs etc does void the warranty.

I will send shipping money, I will take it off your hands! In my opinion they dont make them like they use to. Is it going to cost more to fix it than it is worth or are you just wanting to update?

let me rephrase my statement. in a nutshell, you are correct on the conversions not voiding warranties, but it would also depend on who did the work and who sold the radio. some shops convert them then seal the radio with a tamper resistant seal. any opening after sealing would then void the warranty. i should have been more clear in my original statement.
