I guess I'm out of options then. I can't make this kind of money anywhere else without going through four years of school. And school is boring and expensive.
My one year with Roehl - the good, the bad and the ugly.

"This kind of money". Your making a whopping 25-30g's a year, to sleep in an 8X8 box most of the time and be away from family and friends. Thats "big money". You have to factor in the quality of life as well when looking at wages. So making the above or even less but being home everyday is much better, I think. Again, see "borderline retarded".

I have a semi-retarded neighbor. 19 years old, assistant manager at Arbys. No college, Makes more than most drivers...Something to think about
kebo072 Thanks this. -
First off, you forgot the "after taxes" part. And I definitely would rather be home, but you can't live in the Twin Cities on a $10 an hour job.
Why don't you name me a specific job that you are capable of getting that pays at least 30k and insurance, and gets you home every day? That would be a good starting point if you're going to claim there's a better option. -

Roehl now only offers PER DIEM pay for any new hires. Current drivers have the option of standard or per diem.
I am curious to see what that does with take home pay...examples of each type of pay with a 1200 mile run (for example) would really help.
Roehl RDTC is $2800. I have my CDL but need to attend 'some' training as it's been many years since I drove. I like RDTC inasmuch as they will pay you back (if you pay in cash) - or pay off the loan, while you drive for them - essentially making the training 'free'. I live in WI but Marshfield was a good almost 3hrs from my home. With school being 6 days/week, it is almost impractical to come home for 1 day and zoom back up there. I have a friend who is on the 7-4/3 team and while he has some of these typical issues, he is rather happy for the most part and sees home as he is supposed to. When I visited Roehl a few weeks ago, the recruiter I met with told me that realistically here is what I can expect from pay:
National 48 Van = $30-35k
Home 7-4/3 = $25-30k
..I was not pressured in the least and all of my questions were answered. Insurance is not overly expensive for single coverage and goes down after 1yr with them I think.

Kebo,
They're 2 entirely different conditions. Take whatever offense you want, but none was intended....... -
I start orientation on monday 11/05/2009 in Marshfield Wi. Does anyone know alittle about this heart rate test that I have been hearing about? I am alittle worried about it. I use to be in good physical condition but I have been slacking the past few years and feel out of shape lol. If anyone has any good advice I can take with me it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Many had wondered where was the ugly part.
Here it is.
The real dirt on Roehl.
Again my experience can vary from yours
1) Very poor planning if any done in advance. Hometime fleet supposed to be better, but it ain't, I just joined it few weeks ago !!!
2) If you ever wandered how does it feel to be in a solitary prison cell, Roehl will give you that experience!!! You will sit and sit and sit. Have your DVD's and games with you, you will need it.
3) Forget about being home on time, unless there is a load going that way.
4) You are never right, even if you can prove it.
Last week I met a new driver in Montreal, and I asked him how much they pay him. "$0.28 cents per mile" proudly said he. They had canceled Military Honors Program, and only give stickers to veterans but pay them mileage pay now
They keep hiring and training, but they stop providing the quality care for drivers and pay is getting close to Mexican standards.
Roehl is good for some, decent for many, average for most, and nightmare for a few.
Your choice..................... -
This year Roehl is offering random plans with higher and lower deductibles.
That is not to save you money, but to makre more profit for insurance. Ha Ha
I am National and I made abour $32K GROSS for a year.
Make note, aspiring for wealth, that is GROSS meaning cash on your hand is about 18-20K.mycorky Thanks this.
