Week 4:
7/4 reset
7/5-7/6 Alexandria, MN -- Cottage Grove, MN -- Effingham, IL --- ca. 755 mi
Was apparently a slow weekend at Poly West as I couldn't get a load until Tuesday so had an extra couple of days to spend with the boy which was fine. Grabbed a Blaine, WA load and went ahead and knocked out the 1361 hub miles out and go unloaded Wednesday night. Was hoping for a load back to GP that I could 900 and snag something else but ended up picking up a load in Seattle going to Alexandria, MN. Unfortunately can't deliver until Tuesday due to the holiday but making the most of it by running some back roads that I have never been on before. Taking US 2 all the way across Montana, passed through the southern portion of Glacier National Park today. Should pull into Alexandria on Sunday and get a reset in and then off to pick up a load at Cottage Grove going to Effingham which is a nice 700+ one day run to get the new week off to a great start albeit one day late. First three weeks pretty good with an average of over 2900 miles with some extra stops thrown in and haven't really ran that hard with the extra days off thus far. Got to be home July 13-14 as I am leaving for an Alaska fishing trip with my son for about 11 days. Once I get back from that looking to start piling up the miles.

Made it to Alexandria unscathed. Fairly uneventful ride across US 2 in North Dakota. Just a mile or so away from my delivery spot on Tuesday morning. Wishing I had my BBQ grill with me, almost stopped to pick one up but decided to wait until my next sojourn out after Alaska. My old rig is running strong but got to drop her off in GP on the way through for a PM and a scheduled maintenance on the APU. Guess I'll pass the next 36 hours watching some Netflix and playing online Scrabble -

With any driving at all Saturday and Sunday should be real close to 12,000 miles for 4 weeks and at least 14 extra drops. Guess I am one of the lucky ones that somehow continue to turn miles here Plan on continuing to just keep my head down and play the cards as they are dealt to me in the best way that I can. -

Well no loads for Saturday. Switched over to a loaner truck while mine is in for PM and APU service. See if this old girl can knock out 5K or so miles for me until I get back into mine. Heading to Dayton tomorrow and then supposed to pick up my home load from Mont Belvieu afterwards. Should be back at home on Wednesday with enough time to wait in line for a few hours at the DMV to get my card registration renewed. -

A pretty solid month considering I didn't get to run as many days as I wanted due to no loads available. One concern that I hope doesn't rear it's head often is I waited for an extra 13.5 hours for a Sunday load to Dayton that finally loaded at 0130 am on Monday. Word was things were still backed up from holidays but we will see, saw a ####load of forklifts sitting idle. Problem won't concern me as much as folks directly working at of GP as their main leaving point but still would suck.
In other news got a call from Bill asking if I had ever used e-logs as word was they were looking for some guinea pigs to test them out. Told him put me last on that #### list. ####ers will cost me between 4-6K dollars a year so I #### sure ain't volunteering for them. Fact is I will probably look into getting my own truck if it does come to fruition that we are mandated for them. I am still able to pull down a real decent pay check with the way things are but with those in place might be best to bite the bullet and get my own truck. We will see.
Looking forward to flying to Alaska this Friday and returning 7/26 early. Will be the last state I need to hit for 50 as well as collecting plants in 50 states and 5 continents that perhaps no one else has ever done. My son is real excited and that is the main thing. Going to be a real experience for him as he has lived primarily in NYC his entire life. Should be a great time. Hold down the fort until I return -
Doesn't everybody have to have them.
