Darracq, thanks for the info. 6 inches? Eeegads...how do you even get your door open to get out? Yes, Flagstaff can get buried sometimes in the white stuff! Blind siding.....oh boy! How many times did you GOAL? I would have A LOT!! Though I saw kind of a trick on that........saw someone put about a 4 inch by 10 inch rectangular mirror on the underside of the passenger sun visor and he flipped the visor down and used that mirror when blind siding. Seemed to help a bit. But even still if I wasn't sure, I'd get the heck out and look!

Shedding one's sleeping habits gained over a couple of decades is usually the hardest part of shifting into the life of trucking. Many people (myself included) cannot get enough proper rest to be safe on the road in a moving truck. The cure? No teaming, no training... I run solo only.

The only advantage I have there is my comfort level for sleeping in motion learned from years in the Navy.

    Hi there JimmyBones,

I am looking at getting my CDL back from where I voluntarily gave it up due to non-use. I have been looking at different companies out there and was wondering how if Prime would be a good choice for me and if you think they would be able to help me? I have about 6 months combined driving with Werner, last on road 4 years ago. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

The truck really has a lot of storage. Congrats on the new truck. I do not know if I would like not having fender mirrors thou.

What would you use fender mirrors for? I am curious because on the trucks we train on there is only two mirrors. A large square one and a small round one. I am having fun learning but I am curious what a fender mirror would do for a driver.

You'll have to start at square one through the instructional program. As long as you've kept your driving record clean, and have no long periods of unemployment there's a good chance they'll bring you on. Do disclose everything that's in your background, and have a good reason for leaving Weener.

It's another set of mirrors looking back into your blind spots on the sides of the tractor. Those 4-wheelers are real good at hiding in them.

    Gunner710 Thanks this.

Ironpony, what is considered 'long' periods of unemployment? I've been out of work for two months. Living in a smaller town limits the job opportunities out there, though I've been looking and applying for anything.....even freakin dishwashing is not beneath me. Hope my aspirations aren't crushed because this economy has crushed the job market.

    Thanks Ironpony,
My driving record is clean and I do not have any long periods of unemployment. No criminal background of any kind. I left werner for the pure fact that they would have you sit for 3-4 days with no loads and I had 2 daughters at home that were real young. My daughters are older now and they understand why I am wanting to go back out on the road. I enjoyed it before. So would Prime put me through the whole course or just like a refresher where I would have to go out with a trainer for so many miles?
