Well I officially have my CDL A. This is the end of my 5th week. One week was waiting on getting processed and put on the rotation for range/road. Getting sick of hearing people complain that they are not getting range or road time, yet said they missed roll call and wonder why. People should understand that its going to take real effort in order for people to return the favor. If your going to miss roll call etc then tough. Snagged someones spot on the range prior to testing today. Turns out the person who was suppose to test wasn't even around so I stole that opportunity as well. Maybe I can't complain about slackers anymore? Or god simply did me the favor for having to listen to it the past few weeks. People also need to realize its going to take time to learn what you need to know just to pass your CDL A test and you will learn tons of more information when you actually get to the real world with your CDL A. With that said, 90 next week, road test/night driving, and then orientation the week to follow.
For those that know nothing about a truck and plan on coming here and with the amount of people that come through I would say to aim 6-7 weeks to officially have your license.

Congratulations! Can I sign your hat?
The guys seem to have less than a week's wait to get their trainer so you should be out on the road really soon. Good Luck!
Green_20 Thanks this. -

90 This coming week and then orientation the week after. Ready to get rolling........

I am switching trainers. While my current one might be an awesome person, we have some major communication issues and she really doesn't have the temperament to be training anyone. So, I will be headed back to Indy for a week or two while I wait for another trainer. I have already talked to one that should be available in about two weeks. Once I get back out there, the rest of my training time should fly by since I have less than 8000 miles to go.

Good for you dumbolnd.
Many new drivers are either afraid to ask for a different trainer or assume that being a jerk is the way it is. Hope the next trainer works out for you. Unfortunately a majority of trainers do it for the money . Not to put a well trained competent safe driver on the highway. I used to train new drivers and I looked at all of the ones I trained and certified as I was sharing the road with them and I wanted to know I was safe and so were the others sharing that same road.
It is not always about shifting or cornering or backing.
I had to adjust some attitudes and I did send a very few home on a bus.
The best to you and yes those miles will pass quickly.dumbolnd Thanks this. -
We got routed back to Indy. Hooray! We brokedown on the way there. Booooo!
Now I'm sitting at milemarker 20 in MS on I55 northbound waiting for a tow just like I have been for the last two hours
On the upside, I should get to sleep in a motel room tonight. Might make it back to Indy by Wednesday depending on how long the repairs take and if I can get a bus ticket rather than wait. -
Your employers truck broke down. So, your employer is paying for the room, and bus ticket?
-
I'm a trainee so, yes, Celadon is paying for the motel for me. My trainer is L/P so she would have to pay for her own. If, big if, I can get a bus ticket theywill pay for that too.

Great deal! What is L/P?
