Hey T and anyone else that leased through SFI.
I'm a pumpkin driver as of now. I've been driving for Schneider for a little over a month and I love it. I signed on with PAM, and that is a huge headache gone.
I've talked to a lot of guys on the road and they said that SFI is going to try to talk you into a brand new freightliner. They said don't do it, though. I've had people tell me that it's just not worth it. One guy went into depth about the whole thing, but mainly he just focused on getting a used truck, and having lower payments. He said that you can find some real low interest on some.
My question to you; did you guys buy new? What is your take on it?

Used will cost you as much as a new truck due to the maintenance fund you pay into.
SFI doesn't talk you into anything.
YOU make all the choices.
The people who fail are the ones who can't get their act together.
Many reasons actually..but mainly lack of planning and being in financial trouble.
Never come into something like this with no cash reserves.
Just my 2 cents..SlimPickens and 91B20H8 Thank this. -

I have been listening to Howard since 1995. Yep its a hell of a show!!
Congrats on quitting smoking. I have not had a smoke in 9 months, smoked for 22 years. I started using an ecig, been the best thing for me. Still get some nicotine, and stay calm when crap hits the fan. I am pretty sure at this point nicotine is healthier for me than not having it. -
That's. How they drive in forigen country's. Rudest people ever when I was in Iraq watching the TCNs ( third country nationals) fuel was like watching a 3 ring circus we had nicknamed theme hodgies thus it was called the hodgie rodeo. By the way great thread but a little info on what you need to get started would be nice.91B20H8 Thanks this.

I have a ? I was on the sfi website and was looking at the sample profit statement and them # are pitiful. I make more as a company driver so you are saying you can do a lot better than that exsample I think it was averaging $1 .26 a mile also I thought I read that the freightiners were no good is that true? Thanks

They show the example on the low side. It's really up to you how much money you make. The more effort you put in, the more you get out of it.
-
Sfi always puts the numbers at worst case scenario for the most part...you should be able to without any trouble avg way over $1.26mi if you do things right..

Been busy lately and kinda forgotten to keep updates coming.
I've been running hard, I took a week off about 3 weeks ago and been going nonstop since, I usually stay running for about 3-5 weeks and take 1 week off when I get home. I definitely like taking more time off, I actually feel refreshed when I leave the house lol. This last trip I've been every on the east coast BUT the northeast, been running a lot of OHIO, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, TENNESSEE, try to stay in that region and I do pretty good. Still loving life and have no complaints or regrets.Hegemeister Thanks this. -
